Title: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 09:34:19 am hey i have a problem about the new repair thingy and the fact that engineers cannot repair tanks... i had a vet 2 stug, not hard to make if ur a good player but for me takes a little while, it was damage and decided i wanted to take it off the map...it hit a mine and got immobilized, now i couldn't repair it or take it off so the thing was lost before i could have at least pulled it off if i could have used the engineers to rpr it.
i am rather pissed about this. wat was the reason of doing this anyway? Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Baine on June 12, 2009, 09:36:13 am Buy a repairkit on the tanks that you love?
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Mysthalin on June 12, 2009, 09:41:19 am The reason for the new repair system(and a rather good one) was that people would keep recycling their tanks.
Imagine fighting 3 armor players, each with 2 pershings. They rush you with 2 pershings, run away at 5 hp, you're cackling evilly. Then, 5 minutes later, the SAME two pershings come back. You somehow manage to put them to 5 hp again. They come back again. And again, and again. PIAT and engie blobs were quite aplenty to allow that to happen. It's a good new repair system - it adds a new sense of risk with tanks - you have used your repair kit, you won't be able to come back if shit hits the fan, and you won't be able to save your vet if the tank gets immobilised... It's really fun ^^. I personaly LOVE the new repair system - even if you get to pull out tanks with a destroyed engine, it's realistic and fun, and only adds a whole new layer to the game. To end my post, I will say - if you can't handle loosing veterancy, don't bring it on the field ;). Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Sharpshooter824 on June 12, 2009, 09:44:38 am The only thing I really don't like about the new repair system (I really do like it I just don't like one thing about it) IS that fact that allied and axis heavy tanks pretty much get to live twice, considering repairing only takes a couple minutes heavy tanks are able to crawl away and go quickly repair which can be rather frustrating to fight that same heavy tank twice in the same game :-\
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 09:45:29 am i do but atm i only have 1 on my panther.
it was just anoying as it was just bad luck, i was hoping to get it back through that system thingy but did not come back, how deos it work anyway. just the fact that it was stuck for wat was about 15min not able to move or face the enamy and a set of pios who could have at least rpr the tracks so i could take it off, we had pritty much lost the fight already. and for the other posts, wat about my situation... it just becomes a problem though i should have had 1 on the stug as well. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Piotrskivich on June 12, 2009, 09:46:06 am I agree with above Mysth.
Last game I was in we killed a vet 2 pershing because after an attack we counter attacked and caught it in the middle of a repair kit. I lost a vet 3 ac because it hit two mines and couldn't repair the second time, but hey, it's war, veterans die. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 09:48:37 am could they make it that pios in a special occasion rpr tracks i felt like trying to drop hack the game it was such a waist.
but i am a good sport and gave them the win and game. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: pernik on June 12, 2009, 09:50:50 am I do like the new system... also, this
...you won't be able to come back if shit hits the fan... made me laugh... roflmfaoTitle: Re: new repair system. Post by: Piotrskivich on June 12, 2009, 09:57:58 am It would be cool if engineers could fix broken treads EVER SO SLOWLY. But still able to.
But not fix engine damage. They carry spare treads on the tank normally. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 09:59:10 am thats wat i mean like with the engine damage u can still get back to the spawn but with treads ur screwed. it is really crappy.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Mysthalin on June 12, 2009, 10:03:25 am They could give a clickable ability on tanks that instantly puts their max health to 5 but fixes their critical damage. Last resort to save ur vet, but you wouldn't use it too often :P.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: pernik on June 12, 2009, 10:03:46 am No way giving engineers repair back, in one of the last games, my mate managed to double-sticky the Hetzer... lololol, it was so painful - it wasted its Repair Kit before so it just sit there.. alone.. for about half the game... eating 10 pop... haha :D
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Mysthalin on June 12, 2009, 10:05:24 am Was it in a game with me pernik? vet 2 hetzer out the leaderboard yay ^^.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: pernik on June 12, 2009, 10:08:21 am Maybe, it was on Tanteville and that Hetzie was sitting like pointing its main gun towards north-east spawn... my in-game nick is Mike Garnett so maybe you remeber names better than I do ;)
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Mysthalin on June 12, 2009, 10:12:16 am Yup, that was the one ^^.
My in-game name is MysthalinTLS, rather different from the forum one, so it's no surprise you forgot it :P. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Unkn0wn on June 12, 2009, 10:13:29 am Mind you, even in the old system if it gets immobilised (assuming this probably happens on low hp levels) it would probably get killed before you get to repair the tracks anyway.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 10:17:19 am i had plenty of time and it was well defended
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Unkn0wn on June 12, 2009, 10:20:25 am Buy a repair kit, they're considerably cheap.
Especially if it's a vet unit you care about. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Killer344 on June 12, 2009, 10:46:22 am The problem is when > you use the stug, it gets some damage > repair kit > you use it again a bit more, it gets again damaged > you hit a mine on your way back to the spawn and you are fucked.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Mgallun74 on June 12, 2009, 10:56:22 am dont drive on the roads all the time ;)
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Killer344 on June 12, 2009, 11:03:20 am .....there are some evil beings that tank trap the roads and set up the mines on the flanks.... be aware, I warned you.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: brn4meplz on June 12, 2009, 11:19:25 am You want to know evil? Roadblock AmPm's Industrial Heartland roads. there isn't shit you can do except sit there shooting them
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Sharpshooter824 on June 12, 2009, 11:21:18 am That map has the worst pathing for vehicles imaginable.. :'(
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: panzerman on June 12, 2009, 11:35:44 am ok if u rad the posts i forgot to buy the rpr kit and the reason it hit the mine on the road is cause i just clicked it to go to spawn as i saw no point of it being on and it went straight to the road as it is the fasts way.
that was the problem like i would if i could decrew that tank so the vet might have stayed. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: salan on June 12, 2009, 11:37:10 am That map has the worst pathing for vehicles imaginable.. :'( argentan had the worst pathing for vehicles ... way worse on its main road Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Unkn0wn on June 12, 2009, 11:41:07 am Quote that was the problem like i would if i could decrew that tank so the vet might have stayed. We actually do intend on implementing a system for the tank crew to 'abandon' the tank but that's not really top priority at the moment :P.Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Latios418 on June 12, 2009, 12:04:39 pm Quote We actually do intend on implementing a system for the tank crew to 'abandon' the tank but that's not really top priority at the moment Tongue. !Fuck that's an epic idea. Make it almost top priority please. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: salan on June 12, 2009, 12:15:54 pm doctrines are priority atm
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Sharpshooter824 on June 12, 2009, 12:41:53 pm rofl that'd be so cool if a tank could abandon the tank...as soon as doctrines are in, THATS NEXT! :o
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Latios418 on June 12, 2009, 12:43:41 pm I'm aware, which is why I said "almost top" priority, not top.
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Baine on June 12, 2009, 12:54:40 pm If they can abandon, then please make it like 30 seconds to 1 minute before they can leave the tank, thus it will only be used when the tank is immobilized.
Epic rescue mission to save a Vet 3 crew from the front, because their tank is unable to move :P "OMG MY VET 3 TANK; BRING UNITS TO SUPPORT IT YOU FUCKNEWBS!!!!!!!!!!!" Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Jazlizard on June 13, 2009, 06:40:14 am Although I haven't had any of my immobilized tanks survive more then a few moments after the event. Definitely would be nice to have the self destruct back in the mean time.
Obviously looking forward to the abandon feature if and when it comes in the future. Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: Akranadas on June 13, 2009, 06:47:21 am You can always force fire onto your tanks
Title: Re: new repair system. Post by: velocity78 on June 13, 2009, 07:27:14 am my vet 2 tiger(which was at full health) hit a mine while returning from a run and was immoblized so then the guy wheels up 3 at guns, and bye bye tiger =(
