Title: Indirect fire for RE?
Post by: Smokaz on June 16, 2009, 10:25:54 am
What is the dev take on royal engineers having zero artillery units and only the below-average british mortar? They get no offmaps, they have no 25 pounder, no priest.. it's a pretty glaring weakness.

Neither does Tank Destroyers.

the AVRE is considered an artillery unit, although rather short range ...

Yeah, but tank destroyers still get the awesome mortar halftrack. Thanks for the answers though, I will get an avre

the AVRE and the Croc do an excellent job of clearing positions...

AVREs are the single most awesome thing since jeep blocking Tigers.

Don't forget the bangbus.

I think RE has enough 'conventional' ways of breaking lines.
And yeh, AVREs are pretty fun, especially once you get that vet cooldown decrease.

Bangbus is awesome, but at 2 availability I'd hardly call it a tiebreaker in anything above 3v3s. Its good for 2v2s. Im thinking the AVRE too might be pretty vulernable to counters in 2v2s, which are my favorite.

At least RE gets the 17 pounder, which is awesome. But I really wish the reinforcements granted priests and howitzers again, its not like those units are overpowered.

AVREs are an absolute waste of resources and pop cap... its extremely slow, fires every 180 seconds I think it is (without vet.....) and pretty much can only take out one target at a time, I completely regret purchasing it and wish that I could choose a different T2 instead..  :-\

Airbourne get offmaps nub.

Speaking of which, why don't tankhunters get any form of artillery whatsoever? Sure, mortar halftrack is nice, but it's not doctrine-specific to them. Counting the AVRE, every other doctrine does indeed have doctrine-specific artillery, whether it be on or off the map. I propose some sort of anti-tank offmap for the Panzerjägers!

Latios, if you don't readjust your attitude towards this forum community, consider yourself gone.

you people take offense to things far too easily

protip: nub is most definitely not offensive
protip #2: 99% of the time if I call you a fag it's not in an offensive way
protip #3: 100% of the time if I call you a moron, idiot, dumbass, etc I mean it in an offensive way
protip #4: You can never consider me gone

In all seriousness, you need to stop. And no, you can't justify your actions, you've been warned already. If you continue down this path it's going to result in a more permanent solution.

You might want to read up on the forum rules before posting again.

I wasn't kidding about #4. Well, I wasn't kidding about any of them, but number four is what's relevant since you're still talking about your so-called 'permanent' solution.

Thread locked, don't threaten the dev team.
