Title: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: CrazyWR on September 02, 2009, 08:20:55 pm why do shreks in infantry halftracks not fire at brit emplacements, preferring instead to use kars to fire at brit infantry nearby?
Secondly! Why are brit officers not prioritized over other brit infantry? Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Smokaz on September 02, 2009, 08:25:19 pm Thank god officers are not automatically prioritized over regular infantry, that adds a bit to their surviability. For your focus-fire needs, you have something called a mouse and finger to click it to tell your units what to fire on. I know it can be hard sometimes, to lift that finger up and with all your strength push the button.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: CrazyWR on September 02, 2009, 08:26:24 pm No way, really? What if I'm trying to micro an infantry halftrack to dodge piats while hoping the retards inside shoot at the double vet captain with a piat instead of the recon section nearby?
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: fallensoldier7 on September 02, 2009, 08:27:16 pm Officers aren't prioritized over British infantry probably because usually when a unit prioritizes, it attacks the units that can hurt it the most. In that case it would be the Bren LMGs, not the LT. The only case I can think of this rule not working is wirblewinds auto-targeting planes that fly by.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Smokaz on September 02, 2009, 08:28:55 pm Err. Did you try clicking the squad icon inside the halftrack and then giving a target order?
Garrisoned units will switch targets, not sure if it works for halftracks. Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Groundfire on September 02, 2009, 08:29:19 pm Btw, dont forget how M8s will prioritise Infantry HTs, over the 50mm HT. Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Smokaz on September 02, 2009, 08:30:35 pm Im not a dick, relic is for not designing a way for for moving to units to keep tracking their targets >_>
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: CrazyWR on September 02, 2009, 08:31:04 pm Yes Smokaz, and usually that works, but for some reason not this time. Oh well. Also, ya, losing an m8 because it insisted on firing every shot at the infantry halftrack instead of the 50mm nearby was incredibly frustrating...
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Groundfire on September 02, 2009, 08:31:52 pm yeah my bad. gotta remember, half the stuff you say is harmless in nature.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: shockcoil on September 02, 2009, 08:34:06 pm Also someone needs to tell the sherman turret guy that no he cant kill that fucking panther, stop trying and kill that mg like I told you to
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Smokaz on September 02, 2009, 08:34:30 pm Priority is annoying, but imagine if the captain had his trusty colt and the recon had a picked up shrek. It would be super annoying then too if the priorities were reversed.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: CrazyWR on September 02, 2009, 08:37:21 pm thats true. I wish there was a way to program to auto-target the one with the higher anti-whatever value first and then look at specific priorities if there's a tie...
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Smokaz on September 02, 2009, 08:38:34 pm I wish relic would have made units differentiate between actually focusfiring and being "left alone", aka always shooting on the last targeted enemy even after being given a move order.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: fallensoldier7 on September 02, 2009, 08:54:48 pm Like Carriers in Starcraft, though I'm not sure if it would be as easy as copy + pasting something from Starcraft lol.

Been hoping for that for a long time. Been hoping for that for a long time. Of course we'd then need a way to cancel the attack order if it was a mistake... I guess halt is easy enough. At the same time I have successfully distracted a Firefly with a bike (sometimes as a kamikaze move) and escaped a shot or two that would have hit my panther. I don't agree that it should work like that, but it happens. Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Ununoctium on September 04, 2009, 01:22:20 pm Btw, dont forget how M8s will prioritise Infantry HTs, over the 50mm HT. gaah i hate that.my problem is how they also prioritize inf over support weapons. if we just set m8 priority on inf and support to 1 each then it would obey. Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Mysthalin on September 04, 2009, 01:54:16 pm If you set targetting priorities to 1, the unit won't auto-target it at all, period :P.
Title: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Ununoctium on September 04, 2009, 01:59:12 pm If you set targetting priorities to 1, the unit won't auto-target it at all, period :P. no, it remembers the last target and continues attacking that target typeTitle: Re: Couple of targeting priority questions Post by: Mysthalin on September 04, 2009, 02:04:41 pm So you want to target the enemy every single time you engage in combat(including if the enemy goes into the FOW and back)?
