Title: Stomp discrimination!
Post by: Smokaz on October 31, 2009, 09:49:41 am
From recent experience I've learnt that you can be discriminated as a stomper! Truly I thought this term was reasonably only applied to sexual discrimination, or racial discrimination. But it seems that there is a shared conviction amonst stomp victims, that some stompers stomp you differently than other stompers stomp you. So I reach out to the public - how do you "gently" stomp? Do you say GG at the end? Do you send them flowers and a box of chocolate in the morning? Please fill me in, I want to be a "niceguy" stomper!

use only half your pop cap

use full pop cap, but relinquish territory after a fight.

Try shit, use all your bikes and see how long you can get away with bike pushing before they bring out some AT

Wait till the last minute before you wipe the floor with em.  ;D
(yeah false sense of hope I know, but it makes things look more even)

Don't use more force than necessary. Hold back and make it look close. Saying gg helps. Always say it was close when asked. Blame your win on luck if it's conceivable. In addition, try to be nice during the whole process of launcher recruitment to post-game analysis. Smoky, it's easier if you're genuinely nice. :-*

Just like in jail. Drop the soap so he is diverted. Then go gently and make him think it's an accident and that you just tripped and fell. Tell him that you could stay friends and that you will call him.

I mean, that's what you told me in chat last time anyway smokaz  ;D

It seems to me the problem of stomping goes hand-in-hand with two other general problems in EiR; the problem of stacking, and the general mechanics of EiR as they now stand.

With respect to stacking (and I dont think Smokaz is guilty of this, but there are more than a couple of players who seem to prefer it) thats just part of the game in a persistency mod.  Folks dont wanna lose the troops they've earned for nothing or in a suicide effort.   For example, I used to try to play every game to win but as soon as i got vet2 and vet 3 on soe units I found I didnt want to call them out in a game I felt was either lost or not worth the effort.  But with a small player base that kind of attiitude necessarily leads to elitism.  Those who can play (or are rank 8) vs those who cant (or are rank 1) and are just learning.  I dont know if there's a solition here unless veterancy is something you buy with SPs rather than earn them, and making everyone's army custamizable.

In terms of mechanics, and i think particualrly in terms of veterancy and doc abilities some units just seem way out of whack, to the point that for some new players the game is unrecognizeable.  I know the devs are working on this and others have detailed the many problems, for both the axis and allies.  In relation to stacking, however, these gameplay probs are only aggravated since the seasoned players know the units that are most cost-beneficial, and in which cases a unit has no real hard counter unless you overspend (think Stags or T17s).

If I know a game is unbalanced, let the weaker team pick map/game mode.  Dont' vet hunt units, let them pull them off.  Give hints the whole way through.  And don't smash em, hit em, and then let them recover.  Let them learn the game, holding them in their spawn killing each thing as it comes on just wastes everyones time and will scare them away.  Maybe just don't stack in the first place, but hey, it happens.
