And I didn't really notice it that much until doing work on the EIRR Wiki, but is there any reason why volks and grens can build wire and sandbags and US needs to unlock (given it's always been a T1) the simple ability? Or why tommies can only build trenches? I don't play PE, but can PGs build any defenses?

in vcoh riflemen can build observation posts though while volks/grens can't. so yes, when you think about it it might be unbalanced... TRENCHES OWN. They count as a garrison item, so if somebody uses assault on you, jump in, the assault cancels, if they assault while you are in it, jump out, assault cancelled.
