Title: OMG?
Post by: frankiec on April 19, 2012, 05:41:56 am
So is OMG still being developed or it has stagnated? what about the playerbase?  And why they are still 2 mods and  OMG and eir cannot join for one community? It's been like 3 years since the split, a bigger playerbase wouldn't hurt. It's time to move on past the drama.

Okay sure, we'll just combine them.

Thanks for the suggestion, none of us had ever thought of doing that.

If players at the OMG community want to play our Mod, they are welcome at anytime. We would love to see them in our community. In fact, many people play both mods.

If developers of the OMG mod are interested in working with us, we would be open to discussion with them. They would be subject to the same rules, guidelines, and restrictions as other members of our development team.

No one from OMG has approached us on a development level in the last few years.

I actually talked with cozmo about the possibility of merging the two mods (just a theoretical conversation, nothing even remotely practical) a long time ago and he made it clear that OMG felt EIR had nothing to offer them, so a merger was out of the question unless it was entirely on their terms.

Anyway basically both mods have gone their own way, both in terms of balance as well as in terms of design, and it's unlikely they will ever merge. It's incredibly silly, given that our communities are small and would benefit greatly from operating on a larger scale (not just in terms of playerbase, in terms of coding/mapping as well)

i can count the times i've played omg on one hand. could never get down with it.

after eir came back, i left it alone. it had promise, it just took too long to get there.

Other than man power and coding abilities, this really goes both ways.

This is it in a nut shell. What would be the difference of us merging with OMG or any other CoH mod out there. If you ignore the history, they are different mods, different play style, different direction.

Well when you have a community that gets to the point where tank130 has to make a public announcement about how everyone is a huge dick, makes you wonder why we wont merge.

To be fair, my talk with with cozmo was over a year ago, and our community hardly any less hostile than OMG's.

What tank and Unkn0wn have said is true. No matter how they started the mods are vastly different now, persistence and coh engine aside. With the (soon?) introduction of EF its kind of like the differences between LOL, DOTA and HON.

A lot of players go between the mods, especially the hardcore "24/7" guys.

It's probably best to keep the communities split seeing that there are differing opinions on what directions to go. Live and let live.

I've never played OMG, and I've been around here for what, nearly 3 years or so? >.<

You can argue who started it all day long.

fldash deciding that he could no longer invest time in something he created certainly was a catalyst. He didn't feel right leaving his work in the hands of just anyone but eventually someone did come along with a proper proposal and the skill set required to implement it.

Those things are writ in stone. Beyond that, everyone is going to give you a different story.
