Could care less about Ostfront, more interested to see if they ruin gameplay and prevent modding so they can cash in.

According to the article they will be very conservative about gameplay changes. But a few new features are hinted such as realistic line of sight (so that you can't see behind things like buildings) and a more advanced cover system. Snow will also play a large part, an area with a lot of snow could slow units down etc.

Sounds badass, I would love to see the eastern front and how snow will change gameplay.

On the subject of the game, realistic line-of-sight is something I've been dying to see in this game for a long time. No more parking a motorcycle behind a building and somehow being able to see over it.

Soviets:
- Interned and worked millions of Soviet citizens & prisoners of war.
- Lead by an individual who was politically motivated, but suffered from paranoia. Individual's mental stability deteriorated throughout his political life.
- Targeted political opponents and dissidents, whether apparent or potential.

Nazis:
- Systematically killed specific groups of people, interned other groups of people.
- Lead by an individual who was ideologically motivated, and was specific in who was and was not executed, (American POWs vs Soviet POWs, Western European Jews vs Eastern European Jews, treatment of Slavic peoples vs French/Dutch/Danish/Belgian etc peoples)
- Targeted people based on heritage rather than actions


Both had brutal and deadly secret security/police/paramilitary branches.
Both were hardline dictatorships (arguably less-so with Germany).

The difference between the two is that the Soviet brutality was driven by Stalin's personal will (and psychological condition), while the Nazi's brutality and hatred was infused (although not openly) in their ideology.

Rant over. Game looks very neat and interesting. Looking forwards to seeing what kind of doctrines they have available (Rocket Arty, air support, Heavy armour to fight the germans)

Even more eager to see what new German units they will use (Diff Marders, maybe nashorn, glass jars of bees for infantry)

I wonder how they will balance tanks, the p4 couldn't penetrate medium t34 because its armor was more thick and sloped.
Russians also had more heavy tanks with crazy guns like 122 and 150mm.

Depends on the Panzer IV version, the ones that had trouble are basically the IST from vCoH and the PIII. The PzIV F2/G and later could penetrate pretty easily. Then you move into 1942 and the Tiger dominates completely for a couple years.

Should be interesting to see, though it will probably be pretty similar to current vCoH units (T-34 taking the place of the Sherman, with the T-34-85 being the upgun). I'm hoping for a 1941-1943 period though. More units, many more variants, and a lot of stuff we haven't gotten to touch in CoH yet.

Soviets would have Shermans, Stuarts, Grants, Valentines, Matildas, T-34's, KV's vs PzII, PzIII, PzIV earlies, PzIV lates, Tiger, Panther.

In other news, will CoH2 include all of the current factions?

I read about a new "True Line Of Sight" system where your soldiers have no sightrange when your thowing a smoke grenade. Allthough it seems
that there is a new pathing system and infantry is able to climb over cover. (Additionally they will introduce a new cover system)

Because general opinion said DoW2 was one of ther better games, and in that game pretty much every unit had way to break supression if I remember right.
Dont remember it mattering to much anyway.


And either way I'm pretty sure they'd rather pander to the people who liked the changes made in DoW2 rather than the people still playing CoH, that's what they normally do anyway.

As far as I know, it was sucessful... That, and I dont put much stock in devs these days until I get my proof. And lately Relic havent given me much to put faith in.

DOW 2 was successful because of 2 reasons.

Spacemarines and DOW 1.

It is well known for not being nearly as good as DOW 1.

Spartan, it was more popular among people who arent that into RTS, they really liked the fact that the campaign was built the way it was and the smaller focus.

They got a lot of good press from people/critics who normally arent to into RTS, that's why I think they might try something simelar with CoH.

From what i remember, that went against them more then you think.


Ign and Gamespot give good press to pretty much any game company with money.

If they really thought DOW 2 was the be all end all, you would have had it represented in COHO where the form micro transactions would be better suited to DOW 2's game style especially with the purchasing of hero units.

Mmm Sequels have many times just made me depressed, like Blitzkrieg 2, SC2, SS 2, DA 2... BUT there are a lot of win aswell so who knows, personally i hate the thought of playing as a commie fuck so, pray to god that they keep western sides as well as a German campaign. ^^

Obviously credit has always been given to the founder of the mod, but even he himself stated the mod is not what it used to be and has evolved beyond his initial creation.

That evolution is the creation of Eirrmod. The game you play today is here because of Eirrmod.
With your comment in regards to the "Twins", ; I really hope you are not implying EiRR2 could not be created without Fl-dash.

You have posted on a number of occasions minimizing Eirrmods creation and implying it was just "gifted" to him. Would you be willing to elaborate and explain your motivation for  doing that?

Maybe EiR isnt even needed for CoH2. After coh online I wouldn't be suprised if there was some sort of persistancy system to it

I have never minimized EIRRmods creation. Only pointed out that there were other people now gone, who gave a lot of effort to what we see today.

Maybe if we weren't so neglectful of that fact, or so hostile to their ideas and opinions we not only would have a better community, but a better mod.
