Title: [US] Single Zook Rifles
Post by: 3rdCondor on July 11, 2012, 02:38:13 pm
Cost reduction to 40 mun?

It costs 80 for 2 on freakin' rangers. They are fairly useful imo, but I don't think they should be 55 mun. It seems a little high for me.

1 on armor is useless tbh you would have to carry 10 pop to make them usefull

With pool costs on upgrades they could definitely get a price decrease. Currently they are priced restrictively to combat riflemen zook spam.

No need for a decrease. Rangers are cheaper because they are elite inf and are less readily available. Cheaper for rifles would just result in them spammed in even larger numbers or spammed with nades/stickies. Either way they would be stronger and for no real reason.

I feel this Directly Contradicts the Storms/Gren Shreck Pricing Reasoning.

Your argument sort of fell apart when the new pool change was implemented. No reason they cant get cheaper now.

THe only reason zooks are good to begin with is TR so i dont see how this would be a problem

What pool change? I dont see how pool could affect this.

Wehr is a different faction, that plays a different way to all other factions. Factions arent mirrored, neither should pricing.

Not asking for a mirror.  But the similarity is quite prevalent.

Example.  Quad and Puma, both 6 pop cap.  Sherman MG and P4 MG similar priced, But on Panther it costs more.

More effective units have higher costs on themselves and all associated upgrades.  Its that way across all EIR.

Its being looked at. It was priced more prohibitively because we didn't have anything else to prevent spam. Now that we have the pool system integrated into weapon upgrades we can look to address the pricing problem.

Pricing of a unit or upgrade takes into account various things. Normally it would only be the performance of THAT particular unit or upgrade, and its relation to other similar units or upgrades. But when no external mechanic to combat spam is present, you also need to look at an upgrade's performance when used on a large scale, and price accordingly. I.e a panzerfaust on one volks squad is really no big deal and something you could arguably put at say 30 munitions. (Compare it with other AT pieces, pieces that don't have limited uses, etc) But when someone builds an entire company with 30 mun Fausts, you're suddenly in an entirely different ballgame, really.

Now with upgrade pool costs in place, we can have volks cost more pool when the player purchases a panzerfaust on them. (Which then effects the total amount of infantry you can field in your company, i.e someone who is spamming volks with fausts will get less overall infantry than someone who is just spamming volks.)
