Welcome to the mod. It's always great to see new players. Eirr has a very steep learning curve and can eat you up quickly if you are not prepared. Please do not hesitate to send any member of the Dev team a PM (preferably with some kind of proof) if you experience this hostility. For your first 10 or so games, we strongly advise getting ventrillo. Even if you do not have a mic, hearing information from people trying to assist you is invaluable and avoids miscommunications.
