COH: Europe In Ruins

I just got back from watching the Hobbit, and needless to say it was good and it looks like it may actually be worth watching in 3D.

Anyways it gave me an itch for fantasy and I was wondering if there were any good fantasy RTS. Something that has more races than WC3, which had what, humans, elves, orcs, and scourge? If possible it would be cool if the game had goblins as their own race. Something like bloodbowl and a normal resource gathering RTS.

Or maybe if there are mods for WC3 that add more races?

if I were you i'd go for the first BFME rather than the 2nd like tym suggested.

Basically the 1st one follows the movies of Lotr very well but still has some off-movie battles, and has set spots for different buildings in side a premade castle(helps keep away rushing too) rather than the player being able to spam them everywhere. I prefered that one for those two very reasons and it was a unique RTS.

The second one made it so you had much more freedom. You no longer started out with a castle and you didnt have the old foundation system. You could build anything, anywhere, and you could customize your own hero rather than just sticking with the normal set.


I really enjoyed being able to remember all the different scenes in the movies then have fun as I play them out in the missions. I have never enjoyed a RTS single player mode as much as I have enjoyed BFME. And I have played quite a few RTS games.

There are a few warhammer fantasy RT's floating about, Tale of the horned rat and Dark Omen. Both released in the 90's.

Also there was another Warhammer Mark of chaos
 released in like 2006

BFME 2 is about as close as you can get with an awesome  fantasy RTS.

i imagine total conversion for TW Medieval 2 and Mount and Blade rock as well.

agreed and i got both of them plus expansions for olny $10 years ago and have yet to really play through them...

Yes, Battle Realms was really awesome.

Also kinda fantasy, Age of Mythology, was really awesome when it came out, but then im also quite the ancient world buff.

AOM was a superp game. to bad no other sequels.
