Title: A Crazy Idea
Post by: Spartan_Marine88 on January 19, 2014, 05:03:31 am
Men of War Assault Squad 2 is coming out, starting with full mod support. What if EIRR 2 was done on the MOW engine?

Lucifer said that he tried it, but it wouldn't work properly. Veterancy wouldn't be gained because each squad in it can be a single entity instead of a bigger entity or smth along like that. Which means if you break one model from a squad it becomes a single squad itself and so on.

I'm already looking into the possibility personally.

You'd need to get rid of individual infantry unit control and direct fire (on infantry anyway) for starters indeed, so a lot depends on that.
Aside from that, it has almost all the needed ingredients for an EIR-type mod and will come with extensive mod-support out of the box.

There is a mod called Dynamic Campaign Generator for Men of War. It's like EIR but against the computer.

Why? those are the best parts of Men of War. I can imagine how epic it would be to play a MoW EIR with 16 players and only a handful of troops and vehicles.

Well if it worked for that dynamic campaign mod I suppose it should work just as well for a MP mod. I find the individual infantry controlling messy personally, it's a micro level that adds very little to the game beyond the initial infantry vs infantry stage IMO.

I suppose it shouldn't be too hard to keep and track vet on individual infantry units and keep the game really low-scale in terms of units to control though.

Anyway, definitely something I'll personally delve into

I'd easily play the shit out of a MOW EIRR, since MOW AS 2 actually seems to work and has some real mod support.

MOW EIRR cannot work, there is no easy way to store results from a MP game.

The Dynamic Campaign generator is single player btw.

However, I will still be looking at the viability of EIRR of MOWAS 2.

There is a system tracking experience gained from killing units in MOWAS 2. Whether or not it can be enhanced upon...
