Title: Push Forward!!!
Post by: Warlord511 on March 11, 2008, 12:33:29 pm
HOORAH! We have stopped the Axis advance! Our 666th Infantry (Fulltimekiller) and 51st Airborne (Warlord511) divisions successfully defended our land holding back against the 846th Terror (OrdoDraconis) and 678th Terror (MartinTheMonkey) divisions in a contained battle. This, along with the recent axis defeats has opened up a chance for us to strike back! Now we will show the Axis what it means to fight with America! Onward to Berlin!

With the 51st Airborne winning 4 battles today it looks like they kept their word.

Many of the recent Allied assaults have been stopped dead in their tracks. Allied morale is beginning to wane and rumors of an Axis counter-attack are circulating widely.

In a large battle the 352nd Airborne (DaysOfWar), 545th Airborne (ohnoahowie) and 67th Airborne (CompanyofNubz) divisions broke through our lines and captured more territory, easily pushing our 7th Blitzkrieg (SgtTibz), 308th Terror (DasNOOB) and 403rd Terror (mfee) divisions aside. German morale is reaching all time lows as the Allies continue to plow through German strongholds.

Am I the only one who thinks that, because of one battle, from high morale about being on the verge of a counter attack, to having the lowest morale EVER is stupid?

use a table based on K/d ratio of teams...2 tables one for allies one for axis..this will determine how heavy a battle it was...maybe a table just for loses..maybe a table for armoured loses...like if 10 vehicles were killed in a 2v2 than it was a 5per player death which is a lot

Allyed Continue!

News from the front:
Our 444th Infantry (MrHat2), 13th Airborne (thtbally) and 392nd Armour (Falcon333) divisions successfully assaulted and defeated the 403rd Terror (mfee), 33rd Defensive (StahlPuller) and 444th Blitzkrieg (PreussensGloria) divisions in a large battle. A very Hard Battle. A KT made his apperance, killing some ab and drove of after reaching vet. 2.

The inf General was shot in the head for not bringing a triage center.
The 13th airborne took command and constantilly had to teach its fellow man.

The 3 Core Axis units stood like a wall. Heavy loses on both sides reported. IT came down to engys vs gren´s.

13th Airborn reports lose of all tank´s (again) and half its man. (5000 mp)

Our 111th Blitzkrieg (Bonte) and 218th Terror (xniper) divisions successfully defended our land holding back the 33rd Airborne (SilverMobius) and 9th Armour (SwissKnight) divisions in a contained battle. This follows a few other successful battles in the effort to stop the Allies. Hopeful soldiers everywhere are beginning to speak of a possible end to the Allied advance. 51st Airborne (Warlords51) just pissed his pants in sight of his allies getting crushed under our armoured treads.

Ucross, with the greater stat tracking coming in 2.0 I think it opens up a lot of possibilities for generating really custom messages based on variables like mapname, k/d, #vet units, etc.

So you could have a message that is like:

"Crack infantry of the 23rd Panzergrenadier Division broke through Allied defenses of Abbeville this morning killing over a hundred American and British conscripts of the 3rd Armored Division and 32nd Canadian Artillery Regiment."

The best part is that using a couple of different messages for each variable you could generate hundreds of combinations.

Am I correct in thinking that you could set it up my example something like this?...

If xp>X, random choice("Crack troops / Veteran's/ Seasoned men/etc."); else ("Elements/soldiers/troops/men/etc) of the [Division names and players] [broke through/assaulted/overran/were defeated at/were halted at] a/the (Based on map name: Town of Abbeville/peaceful Hamlet/German radar station/Crossroads near Carentan/etc) by [Division names and players] and sustained (many/few/unbearable/crushing numbers of/etc) casualties.  Etc. etc.

Once again 3 airborne companies prove themselves to be way op.  Ucross I hope your fixes come soon regarding Airborne.

Title: Re: Push Forward!!!
Post by: Draygon on March 13, 2008, 12:52:43 am
To be fair Das, it wasnt just airborne, we used combined arms to beat you.  Jaws mortars tore you up bad, along with Bar'd rifles, M10s and Shermans :)

So it wasnt just Airborne only that beat you.

Title: Re: Push Forward!!!
Post by: DasNoob on March 13, 2008, 12:54:43 am
Actually it was.  I will concede the mortars... but we killed all but the very last m10/sherman and that was only because it was GG at that point.

Airborne X3 was 90% the reason.

I understand that you would want to defend your company doctrine choice.  But even you must admit that when there are 3 airborne players that don't have to run to the front line, in the new MCP style game play it really makes it easy for you.  Hell even slowzo said that he didn't realize that you were all Airborne or else he would have played his infantry company lol!  I will await the devs balancing.

Every additional Airborne player on a team is just a huge force multiplier.  I honestly don't think an individual Airborne company is OP per se, but when combined its just fucking horrid.

However, you do have to consider this possibility when balancing it out I think, and that Airborne can drop as often as they can reinforce I personally see as the problem.  Although certainly a case can be made about the number of Airborne available as well.  Having played AB, and against them as my Terror company, its not the numbers of them which makes me feel good as AB, or worries me as Terror.  Its the ability to jump anywhere, cap territory, and jump again *thus bypassing the trek from spawn that every other player has to make*.  The time saved, the flexibility, and with more than one airborne between that, and being ablt to instantly reinforce anywhere, or double up on a weak spot - instantly - .  That is OP.

1 crock+dozer
2 M10

You don't have a single AT Gun, 75/76 Sherman, or M10. A skirted tank will be hell for your company. The Satchels are a waste really. There's no point in having them. They can't kill anything, and it takes 2 to take out a Bunker/Flak 88/etc. Buy less Airborne, some more tanks, and some ATGs.

Though I do have to agree, Airborne are a bit unbalanced with Airborne Brothers. But then again, it's a T4 and the Axis can do the same with their manpower reduction doctrine. Though they will lack the mobility of Airborne.

It's the the combination of Airborne doctrines that magnifies each other's effectiveness. By themselves, they're not that glamorous, but when you start combining a few, it can become a nightmare for the Axis players.

Na i'll stick with what I have but thanks theta!  When rangers were all the rage AmPm and I ran ranger only companies and they were fine.  Although the rr's will indeed have some problems with skirts I will rely on my fellow airborne to help.  As soon as I get 3 more CP i'll probably pick up some airborne 57s.  As for satchels, since I only play axis... I just wanted to have something that went BOOM for once.

OOPs I also forgot my 2 M10... i'll go edit that post.

It doesn't matter how many units you have; it matters how you use them.

That T4 (22CP) is pretty cheap in the CP side of things considering TR is 28CPs

Ak -

Airborne are a different animal then when you played them.  No availability & MCP being the 2 key changes which make how they play much different.

Yeah I know; I agree that they are OP in the price area... but you have to look at it in two ways. How much RBs do those players spend into Manpower?

I went Elite Airborne and I have 21 squads of Airborne. I cant see how people think they are Op'd. Ya we can drop any where and have good anti tank, but if we are faced with a large infantry force with even a small armourd car we have to pull back.

Disagree, 170 Mun RRs & 45 mun grenades (or even 50% off with a doctrine ability) take care of all those problems.

See this is what pisses me off, people think that just because you go AB you have to get ALL AB units, thats just bad for strategy and not really viable.  Its you g uys that get ONLY AB that are going to fuck those of us that actually use a combined company to play, not just AB only.

For instance my AB company I have 17 AB (only 6 RR), 10 rifles(4 Bars), 1 Croc, 1 Sherman, 2 M10s a ATG and support weapons.  I can fight a battle with just about anyone and hold my ground, if you go AB only you cant.

Really? I use 49 airborne with 5 m10s, 4 RR, 1 AB ATG. All the AB have nades. But really, with my T4 being Aerial Brothers, why wouldn't I? It makes AB less than rifles, why would I purchase rifles?

It is effective indeed. But only if used right. If you don't know how to use it, you will fail.

Besides, I'm careful with my AB now that they are mostly vet 2.

Title: Re: Push Forward!!!

Yea but Days thats whats going to get AB a nerf, just spamming them.  If there wasnt people doing this then there wouldnt be a problem.
