This first tutorial took me a few tries and a lot of time rendering so I did my best for the first segment and will improve the quality of the videos in the next episodes. The first episode is almost 30 minutes long, it encompasses all the essentials for entirely new mappers. -Where is the WB located? -What should I make my map-size? -What are the essential tools? -What do I need for a functional map? Questions like these are answered in this first video tutorial, I hope if you are new to mapping and you watch this as well as many more to come that you learn something. Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Nobody on April 06, 2008, 04:15:18 am Good idea lolto, it´s going to be a huge task to get around all the features in WB this way ;)
In the same category, i made a little video about a year ago, about how to make a trench with splines, i think it might be useful. trench.mpg (http://files.filefront.com/trenchmpg/;9309135;/fileinfo.html) it´s a 50 MB download and it´s without naration, but it will give a WB user a pretty good idea about how splines can be used ;D Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: TodlichPanther on April 06, 2008, 04:18:53 am wow, thank you very very very^99 much.

Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Thtb on April 06, 2008, 12:25:31 pm Mapping is hard, you have to find the balance in many things;
Realistic look vs Gameplay Details vs Lag Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: BoDyBaG2224TLS on April 06, 2008, 12:53:04 pm Great guide there lolto. I never knew the quick way to change the default terrain, I would spend all my time coloring in the terrain and that would take sooooooooooooooooooooooooo long. I'm looking foward to the other "episodes".

Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: stahlsta210 on May 23, 2008, 04:16:35 pm I only have 5 files in my folder? is there more i need to copy from some place else?
Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Lolto on May 23, 2008, 04:34:47 pm If you have the essentials;
.sgb .info .scar Mapname_tml.tga Mapname_mm.tga then those five files are good enough for a simple map package in order for a map to function, if you want to add things like a loading screen and map preview image then you will need to make two additional images using your "Mapname_mm.tga" file as a base to make: Mapname_map_base.tga Mapname_map_slots.tga Then you would put those in the folder for a total of 7 files, the loading screen would have to be in a sub-folder named as: Mapname.tga That would be it, I suggest looking over the tutorials again, they are a bit confusing but that was the best I could do with the amount of steps involved in such a process. After you get your first map working with everything it becomes second hand knowledge. Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: |-|Cozmo|-| on May 23, 2008, 04:41:40 pm .scar is not essential, but the _ID one is.

After you get your first map working with everything it becomes second hand knowledge. I think you did a great job. All the tuts here are great but its just hard for me to understand some of the stuff giving that it is my first time. Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Lolto on May 23, 2008, 07:02:06 pm .scar is not essential, but the _ID one is. _ID is the .scar file. Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: stahlsta210 on May 25, 2008, 10:30:00 am The video stops for me right after it talks about atmosphere, is it just doing that for me becuase i thought it would show me how to get a load screen. If so is there another link that might not crash on me?
Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Unkn0wn on May 25, 2008, 10:51:19 am Quote _ID is the .scar file. Not exactly, the _ID file is for recognition of the markers being used.The .scar file is the actual code that applies to the markers. Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Leafedge on May 25, 2008, 02:17:43 pm As soon as I try to create a new map to work on, it gives me the message "Pipeline project not located for Mod:'Europe in Ruins'". Not sure where to go from there, just wish I could have gotten started working before I had any problems. It works fine if I select "Invasion of Normandy" as the Mod, but for some reason my WB or computer doesn't like EiR. Any suggestions?
Title: Re: Loltos Video Mapping Tutorials Post by: Warbirds on May 25, 2008, 02:57:11 pm For the last time, only use the relic module file. Don't use the EiR module.

Also; don't use the EIR .module file Leafedge, as Warbirds said use the Relic one known as 'Invasion of Normandy' module file.
