As many of you know, last year we were one of 7 modifications to win the Moddb.com 2007 Editor's Choice Award.  Well 2008 has arrived, and Europe In Ruins was nominated for a Moddb.com Editor's Choice Award in the category of Most Innovative Multiplayer.  While we didn't win the award this year, it was great to get a nomination and we'd just like to thank our community for their support during the long haul of getting EIR: Reinforcements out.

For those interesting, a terrific mod called Celestial Impact won the award, for good reason.  You can read the full story on Moddb.com by clicking here.
As many of you know we were selected in 2007 for the Editor's Choice award at Moddb.com.  The time has come once again to cast your votes.  The task is a simple one, register for Moddb.com (registration is quick and easy, requiring only a valid email address), then visit this link: http://www.moddb.com/events/2008-mod-of-the-year-awards/top100

Once there, simply expand the Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts link, and click 'Vote' beside Europe In Ruins.

As you vote, I ask you to remember the blood, sweat, and tears that have gone into Europe In Ruins since January of 2007 by fldash and the team he assembled.  We were the first to offer a battle launcher, persistency, trucks capable of building weapons on the battlefield, auto-territory capture , MCP victory conditions, and maps designed specifically for the unique style of gameplay offered by a persistent mod.

We are the innovators not the imitators.

Continuing the innovation, we'd like to let you know that Europe In Ruins: Reinforcements is getting closer.  EIR:R will continue to march along the path of innovation and press forward by creating new ways to battle, build, and play our wonderful game. The future holds many great and powerful additions to our established modification, so continue to check for updates in the coming months for a whole host of exciting new prospects.
A belated Happy New Year to everyone!

Our development team has been hard at work, smashing through the work of getting the Opposing Fronts armies into the next instalment of Europe in Ruins, which we've happily dubbed Reinforcements.

For those who are curious about who is actually working on the modification at the moment, here is the run-down on the Dev team as it currently stands.;

EIR:R Head Developer = LuciferNZ (aka EIRRMod)
EIR:R Development Team = Akranadas, Nevyen, Drakin, Stumpster, Salan
Testers = Montag, Cthuhlu, DasNoob, Unkn0wn, APEX, Kolath, AmPm, Lai.

Special Thanks to - fldash, Ucross, Forefall and Phil for paving the way for this release.

As some of you may have noticed, there is a new Ventilro Server up and running.
This one is a dedicated Europe in Ruins server and is the number one place to find and play EIR games on.

For those who don't know the details, here they are once again:

Server Information:

Hostname = chi08.voicemonsters.com

Or, if you prefer the IP:

Hope to see you guys on there! Wink

And what kind of update would this be without something to tease you with?

So with that in mind, we have a video for your enjoyment!  It shows some game play of EIR:R as well as some other nice things. Of course this video can't show it all, or else what kind of teaser would that be? Right?

We also have Shoutcast #8 available, which shows all four factions in a fierce battle on Nuenen, commented on by Salan and Stumpster!

After being approached by a member of the community, whom I will not name, I've turned over development to him.  He has shown proficiency in being able to get things done, even though it will take him some time to learn the backend.  He was able to take my SCAR and get a working model up and running in a relatively short time even though his backend was using IIS Web Services not PHP/mySQL.  He also had the idea of remaining anonymous among the community using a generic ID to communicate with the community and I agreed that was acceptable.  I'm not sure what his plans are with regard to development, whether there will actually be development or just 'maintenance'.  I'm leaving that up to him.
