Lol thanks for the responses.  I'm on a budget of <$900 so I don't expect to get a very nice computer anyway.  Also I don't mind running my settings on low or medium either.  Thanks for the suggestions though  Smiley

I settled on this one:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9541891&st=asus&lp=8&type=product&cp=1&id=1218121457704

Yea, in no way top of the line but it's definitely good enough for me.  I'm not a hardcore gamer so I figured I didn't need THAT great of a graphics card or processor.  I'm installing CoH right now, and if there are any problems with the settings that it runs at then I'll think about upgrading the graphics card since everyone told me that the current one is pretty basic.

That one is a lot better than the first one you were thinking about, and yes the Video is not the best but you have 2 expansion slots so you could upgrade to one with some dedicated memory.

How exactly is playing PC games at a Net Cafe good for your pocket?

Paying 1 euro for an hour of game time, 2 hours a day will net a total of 730 euros a year. In 3 years time, it's 2190 euros spent. You can easily buy a rig, then upgrade it accordingly and utilise it to play all the latest games on high settings for roughly 5 years, including net and electricity costs.

And that's considering you're gonna use the PC solely for playing PC games 2 hours a day, not a minute for the internet, chatting with friends, doing work/research, etc.

Shit caffe tbh, worse then my configuration from 3 years ago, I can't believe that net caffes with games still exist, it's just matter of time, and I can't belive how nerdish you must be to go to the caffe to play pc games like WoW etc. Soon there will be WiFi covering most of the bigcities (my district is almost 100% covered with free WiFi).

yes and tha'ts why I'm so pissed

I don't like consoles even when I have x360 at my home, they just slow down evolving process of graphic on PC, now we have to wait until 2011 for next generation of consoles so PC games producers won't have to slow down because of them.

Wow, you have an extremely warped view on how Net Cafes operate and what customers they attract. While some customers do come here by themselves, they do so to socialise with other gamers; its one of the only places you can go out and find like minded individuals face to face and not behind some firewall in your house. Net Cafes have their own communities much like forums do; the gamers game together, talk, laugh and generally have a good time. You'd be surprised by how little there is of the 'nerds' that come into net cafes, as generally its the casual socialising gamer that goes there.

We don't have top of the range PCs because frankly; its expensive. You might be able to afford your top of the line rig at your home, but that's 1 PC. My internet Cafe has 31 Gaming PCs (with expansion bays for a further 9), 10 Dedicated Sykpe Setup Computers with Webcams, 15 dedicated Internet and Word Processing Computers. You want us, a business that has to turn a profit to survive to have multiple top of the range PCs when our customer base plays the following games:

Warcraft 3/DoTa
Counter Strike 1.6 & Source
Team Fortress 2
Call of Duty 4
Left 4 Dead
Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour
Killing Floor
World of Warcraft

Those are our most played games and you don't need a top of the range PC to play those games, and even if we did upgrade to super beast PCs; the games our customers won't even take advantage of the power those PCs have. It's not financially sound to do that kind of thing. We will however, be doing an upgrade mid next year; we get about 4 years out of our gaming PCs, which will then become our Internet PCs, which are currently about 7 years old and still running fast due to constant maintenance and TLC.

Oh I don't know; at least when I purchase a 360 game, it'll work straight out of the box; I won't have to mess around with settings to get it to work on my PC with its configuration of Video card, operating system, graphics drivers, sound drivers, router ect. Also I don't have to worry about DRM potentially destroying my console while I have to be on the look out for things like Starforce when I'm installing a new game.

The current genreation won't be going away until late 2011 or even 2012 due to some reports. Its because in the past, the turn around has been so fast with consoles that developers only just learn to use all the power as the console is being phased out. Microsoft has stated that the 360 will still be their flagship console in 2011 and they have no plans to do a follow up console, and why would you? With the numbers of people owning a console (360, PS3, Wii) why would you release a new product when you can continue to make money on the market you still have; continue to produce games and make money off of the console without introducing another competitor (see PS2/PS3)

Yep. Every Sunday at approximately 1 PM I go (with some friends) to play at a videogame locale. just play for an hour and a half and we have a blast and everyone at the locale knows us by now, the owner frequently plays with us as well.

Having a Gears of War 2/Halo 3 10 player lan party = a lot of fun.
