Segment List:
Episode 1: Basic Introduction
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Episode 2: Advanced SGA packaging
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

Episode 3: Trench Design Tutorial
Part 1
Part 2

Episode 4: Rivers And Creeks
Part 1
Part 2

I have decided to start making video tutorials about the various tools and techniques involved with the world builder.  This first tutorial took me a few tries and a lot of time rendering so I did my best for the first segment and will improve the quality of the videos in the next episodes.

The first episode is almost 30 minutes long, it encompasses all the essentials for entirely new mappers.

-Where is the WB located?
-What should I make my map-size?
-What are the essential tools?
-What do I need for a functional map?

Questions like these are answered in this first video tutorial, I hope if you are new to mapping and you watch this as well as many more to come that you learn something.

Good idea lolto, it´s going to be a huge task to get around all the features in WB this way  Wink

In the same category, i made a little video about a year ago, about how to make a trench with splines, i think it might be useful.
trench.mpg
it´s a 50 MB download and it´s without naration, but it will give a WB user a pretty good idea about how splines can be used  Grin

Also, I lost a game due to not enough anti-infantry units, so airborne get double damage at each vet level.

More changes to come.

Mapping is hard, you have to find the balance in many things;

Realistic look vs Gameplay
Details vs Lag

Great guide there lolto. I never knew the quick way to change the default terrain, I would spend all my time coloring in the terrain and that would take sooooooooooooooooooooooooo long. I'm looking foward to the other "episodes".

If you have the essentials;

.sgb
.info
.scar
Mapname_tml.tga
Mapname_mm.tga

then those five files are good enough for a simple map package in order for a map to function, if you want to add things like a loading screen and map preview image then you will need to make two additional images using your "Mapname_mm.tga" file as a base to make:

Mapname_map_base.tga
Mapname_map_slots.tga

Then you would put those in the folder for a total of 7 files, the loading screen would have to be in a sub-folder named as:

Mapname.tga

That would be it, I suggest looking over the tutorials again, they are a bit confusing but that was the best I could do with the amount of steps involved in such a process.  After you get your first map working with everything it becomes second hand knowledge.
