I have witnessed this in my last two games. In the first one, I got a vet 2 and a vet 1 staghound, which were upgraded to their respective veterancy levels. For some reason, that vet didnt carry over into the next game despite being shown in the launcher after game 1- both stags started out as vet 0 in game 2 and started gaining vet again from 0 xp.

It's been reported before (by RikiRude) but not many of us know the status of this bug.
