The name will change when it's finished... maybe  Tongue

As I have never made a map before, I'm using a very old custom map that I have always loved as a base upon which to work. My plan is to eventually renovate the entire map to my own style. So far I have created a train  station, and begun the process of completely redoing the center town - including a very cool courtyard and outdoor cafe. So far only one city block is completed, but I plan to finish the rest within a day or so.

Here are some screenshots of my progress so far (last updated Dec 15th).

Entire Map Distance Shot: (Please keep in mind certain areas have not yet been touched/finished, so may appear sparse and/or awkward. (E.g the left side of the city has not been "brought to life" fully yet.

The map is far from ready, and that is low on the priority list. Too busy making sexy areas - that other stuff comes last.

3v3 or 4v4 map, as it's a rather large map.

 Width: 1024 Height: 1024

 Hi guys,

Been working hard on the map today - spent over 5 hours building something that I think you will enjoy. I wasn't really even sure if it was possible when I came up with the idea, but I've been killing myself figuring out how to do it and I think the result has been worth it.

The center of the city (which I have been completely redoing from a tiny town to a highly-detailed urban center) is now going to have a raised city-square, with a church and forest garden. The 3 dimensional nature of the platform should make for some very interesting battles for those who choose to fight in the city (which will be in the center of this map, but still make up a very small portion of it).

This is something EIR has not seen before in it's maps, so I'm very excited about it.

So far I have just managed to complete the front of this court yard: the statue, and the cut-into stair cases that ascend to the courtyard proper. It might not look like much, but it took many hours to get it right.

 Here are some pics:

Front Close Up:

A picture from the back, showing the ascending staircases:

Another Back Picture:

Zoomed out shot showing the courtyard in relation to the new city block/cafes:

Please ignore the rag tag hodgepog of objects to on the other side of the road, as I have not yet begun construction over there. Right now I just store a bunch of objects i'm using there.

Anyways, that's my update for today. It's slow going, but I'm satisfied with the progress so far.

I plan to finish the rest of the city-center within the next 24 hours.

Heh, we've had that on maps. But its always nice to have something actually have more than 1 level to fight over.

Looks good. 1 thing, people tend to get really pissed if a tank can block off the stairs thereby crushing all the mans. Just an FYI =)

I haven't seen any EiR map with hardcore staircase cutaways yet.

Also, good. I hope people who can't handle having a realistic map ragequit because a tank does what it is supposed to to infantry and then they go back to playing Farm/rural village maps only.

Check out the town in Mountain Valley that Iggi and I made. It's got some serious stairsways. People complained nonstop when their vet infantry got blocked in by a tank and destroyed!

Nice looking map.

Well stairs go somewhere. Who cares if a tank blocks off the top or bottom. use the other side of the stairs.

If you've designed stairs that go nowhere then thats just dumb

For those of you who might be following the progress of this map, here are some more updates:

The City Center is now complete, with the forest garden and Church and elevated courtyard fully finished.

From the Front:

 From the Back:

Next on the agenda: finish the other side of the town.

 Cheers,

More updates from today!

The city center is now complete for reals - I made some adjustments.

Also the rest of the city is starting to take shape, and I've moved the train closer to the station to open up the right side of the map and begun some pretty heavy reorganizing there.
