Unfortunately when I'm writing this I have a different version that the one currently released, so some of the number may not match. But lets try anyway:

Error type:

  • 1 - Unable to connect. This will also give a Windows Socket error code, which explains the problem. Most likely 10060, which means the server did not respond in over a minute. If this problems keeps showing up every time and you can access the website fine, it is most likely caused by a firewall.
  • 4 - Unable to download any data. As far as I can tell, this is a purely firewall related problem.
  • 5 - Connection was interrupted. Error code again most likely 10060 or 10054. Probably caused by server issues, or one of the developers uploading bug fixes to the system. NOT likely to be a firewall issue.
  • 25 - During downloading of EiR files. I've only had reports of this happening on Vista. Running the program in Administrator mode is required.

Unfortunately the list of possible Errors is quite long and writing an even semi understandable explanation for them is difficult for me. Thats why I'll only be adding the most common ones to this list. And for the most common errors I will eventually replace the Launcher error pop up message too.
These are not bugs, just unavoidable problems you may encounter.

What about "error 13", like the one I'm getting at the launcher?

Error Type 2;  Turn off your firewall to fix it.

Is error type 13 when you try to start a new game with COH open?

Ask Fldash or Phil about it.

All problems are caused  by either firewall, viruscan, or hosts re-routing traffic thru proxies.  You must have a direct connection to the internet without any of the previous things blocking the path else it may not work.

As far as I've heard, there is a new launcher coming from the new developer.
