I am curious with the percieved lack of development (no updates, no word, no forseeable 2.0) if a situation in which the creation of an army after a trial week or so period would be benificial to the mod.

First I want to point out that people already donated to this mod, who knows how much, this isn't an epeen contest keep the actual numbers out of it, and really it hasn't helped, so would charging a minimal amount change anything or not?

If they made it where you could create an army and after a week or 2 you would need to invest a nominal fee of 1.99 to continue using that army until the end of the war in anything but 1 v 1's, if this would further the development of EIR or not.

It would have to be a nominal fee, a lot of the age bracket here are youth, I don't know if they would even be able to pay that much.  but if we have almost 1000 accounts on each side of the war, even 100-200 of each side paying 1.99 would net in enough that perhaps the developers could get more time a lotted to finishing what they have.

I dunno, just trying to brainstorm and offer suggestions.   As I said it might not be a good idea with the age group we find here for the most part.

I don't think I could bother, I've never paid for a game...  Although I would consider if monthly charge gave the guarantee that steady & major progress is made each month. But for this to happen, fl- would need to treat the mod as a fulltime-job and should thus be paid accordingly. 2$ Will not suffice in achieving that, you'd need at least 10 - 15$ a player with our small playerbase.

Wether it's 2$ or 10$, the fact that players have to pay monthly, regardless of the amount usually causes the biggest decline in playerbase already. Once people are interested & capable of playing monthly, they'd pay any reasonable amount. Let's also not forget though that most -18 year olds would be left out since they don't own a credit card, and last time I checked, we have a significantly large amount of -18 year olds in this mod.

In addition, THQ/Relic will not tolerate anyone making money with a modded version of their game and they would just sue fl-s ass Wink. That is if the expected decline in players (monthly charge = big decline) in an already small 'potential player pool' (CoH mods are not nearly as popular as other game's mods) doesn't kill the mod to begin with.

Fl has already explained his circumstances. Money isn't the problem.

I dont think this would bea  good idea. If money was the problem i think/hope donations would cover it if asked for. Anything more would just put people off.
