Quick question for anyone that's in the know:
Is it possible with the COH engine to have true LOS? You know how every unit got this LOS aura around it and it sees everything within this circle, notmatter what might/should obscure the sight like a hedge.
It would make true ambushes possible, thats onw of the things that made WC3 so awsome that you can pop around a corner and run right into this big ass army.
So my question is this... Can the engine be tweaked/modified to have true line of sight?
Even if we dont get it in VCOH, maybe someone can make it happen for EIR, that would be friggin awsome!
That and not having units shoot through hills/mountains.
It seems that OF introduced some kind of multi-tier system, meaning that you got a bridge and you can walk under neath it. Does that mean that we can kill the LOS bug AND shoot through hill bug with one stone?
Can someone confirm/deny if there is a TRUE multi-tier system in tact now?

it was a bit strange seeing the MG rounds hit the hill yet the guys on the top were still taking damage.

That's because the CoH engine does not calculate the effects of the heightmap on projectiles. The only way to block shots through things like cliffs and the like is to place blocker objects.

Yeah bullets also penetrade armor and hit the inf behind it witch really destroys the idear of combined armes (blocking mg fire on your inf with a tank, anyone?)

If you want true LOS and firing distances, play Theatre of War. Best WWII real-time tactical game IMO. It is way more realistic (tanks can destroy from across the map) and difficult. I play this game more for the fun and gfx.

That game was impossible for me to actually get my head around (probably just my inferior skill level lol).

Those games look so ugly my eyes hurt when looking at the screenshots. I'd rather go and play Panzer General.

It's true, the makers of Theatre of War weren't concerned so much with making the game look pretty as much as realistic. I'm a sucker for gfx, hence why CoH gets more of my attn. Too bad CoH will never reach that level of realism though.

It always pisses me off when the damned ethereal AT gun shells pass through walls and hills to hit my tanks.
