If you abandon you can still play the game, it just doesn't count for EIR.

First off I want to say good game in the 3v3 and after 6 or so minutes into the game the 3v2.

However even though it was a good game your sportsmanship was quite poor.

You guys talk about honor and sportsmanship in a video game (this was during the 3v3 for those who didnt watch it) when we didnt abandon the game after generic DCed.  Yet you start calling us names when we refused to abandon an online video game and continued playing.

Look, I think that you guys need a bit of a news flash.  That getting worked up over a video game and crying on a forum because an opposing team didnt abandon a game is quite childish and unhonorable.  You're acting like the sky is going to fall if your top 20 leaderboard armies lose a game.

Lastly the axis in EIR is way better than the allies are.  Basic infantry: Grenadiers>Rifleman, MGs: MG42>.50 cal, AT is debatable, Axis armor>Allied armor.  The only thing that the allies have going for them in EIR is the caliope and that can be taken out if the allies arent careful.  Not to mention your armies where loaded with vet, so dont cry and whine that your uber armies got beat.

BTW this is Undeadphantom.

According to the ingame chat the allies (at least one of you) make a big deal of the 8 minutes that got 'wasted' by an axis dropping. Even if you're being sarcastic, that doesn't hold a lot of water when you compare it to the fact that you went on and wasted another, what, hour of your time outnumbering your enemy.

If you don't think video games are of any consequence (I agree here) then what's wrong with just abandoning and getting on with your lives?

yup. that was me complaining about the 8 minutes. kinda hard to show sarcasm in type, but i dont think the rest of the game was a waste anyway. it was fun and i got a win. had we abandoned, it was 8 minutes game time and however long i spent looking for a game down the tube.

This is why the "Play on" rule was instituted, so there are no doubts what the 'default' course of action is.   Smiley

If you don't want to bother playing the game out - or want to get the unfortunate dropper back in the game - the side who lost players can quit. They'll take a loss, but it's not a big deal.

Right? Tongue

You can decided to abandon and rehost, but it's not the default or expected course of action, that's the point of the play on rule.

8 Minutes into the game, it should still be encouraged to abandon at that point.
I can understand 15 minutes in and beyond, but the first 10 minutes, give me a break.

Regardless of this policy, if one of my opponent drops during the first 10 minutes, I'll show some sportsmanship by abandoning and letting him get back in.

well maybe the 5 minute barrier on reports could be extended to ten minutes. That's the principal reason why the wall is at five minutes.  But then you might get people dropping when the start goes against them... *shrug*

The policy needs to encourage sportsmanship & thus abandonding in the first 15 minutes.
If this system stays in, they should at least implement a method for the disadvantaged team to stay in the game, extra popcap for the remaining players for instance.

Extra pop would be a good workaround.
Or an extra bonus on pop gain in the VP equations.
