Hey Guys, I am reorganizing and updating our getting started tutorials and videos over the next couple of weeks.

We often get questions in regards to were to put the game files. It's been so long for me I don't remember. Could someone fill in the blanks please:

For Steam Users: Install it to this directory: \Steam\steamapps\common\companyofheroes
For Windows Vista Users: C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
For Windows XP Users: C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
For Windows 7 Users:  C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
For Windows 7  - 64 bit Users: C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Company of Heroes

These are the default locations for your games.

*** We highly recommend using the default folders ***

If you do not install your games in the default folders, you must  select the folder which contains the RelicCoH.exe

win 7 one is wrong,
xp, vista and 7 are all the same: C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes
for 64 bit users its C:\Program Files (x86)\THQ\Company of Heroes

but that are the default locations. some people install their game on a different harddrive or whatever. what's important is that its the CoH install location, or where RelicCoH.exe is.
Autoupdater.exe needs to be in the same folder as RelicCoH.exe

I think I can try to make the installer check ALL of these locations.

Its a script based installer, so it should be possible.  I'll need to do one after the Beta anyway, as I think we'll get a big influx of players.

Shit I'm pretty sure you could offer the guy a cup of coffee and he'd try to kill you with the mug if you forgot sugar.

That's like offering Beer to fuck the fat chick. It will work for a while, but it's not gonna last. Not only that, but there is zero motivation for the Fat chick to loose weight.

The Win7 one is wrong. Win7 and Xp have the same.

While technically correct, this is BAD advice (although in extreme cases it still works) - because it downloads the entire mod from scratch.

Thats 1/2 a GB a pop.

yeah.. what I was trying to say you need to select the folder which has RelicCoH.exe in it instead of those default locations then.
with the result autoupdater.exe is in the same folder as reliccoh.exe after installation

How About now!!!

This is a very good example of why I am revamping the getting started forum. There is a lot of information in the forum, but it can be hard to find and buried in long threads.
