Hi Guys,

I've been wondering, why is the warmap beta a closed beta? The mod already has a limited player base and if your doing your best to make it perfect, why not allow everyone to use it? If your in the beta will you only be able to play people with the beta aswell? If so i believe that is a bad idea, as it basically cuts the base in half. And if it does not, then why not allow everyone to have it? That was you can get more people to report errors and bugs.

Hey Rambo, thanks for your comment. We are aware of what were doing. Smiley

My guess is that it will be a very short beta phase, as we will all be working very fucking hard on 40 people to make sure this thing is 100% ready to go upon public release.

If we have an open beta release and there is some horribly bad bug and Everyone has to experience it, then our first impression is shot dead. Any PR that I would have done to increase our player base coat tailing the warmap would be ruined, it could be potentially very disasterous and then id be fixing collateral damage instead of doing cool shoutcasts. Smiley

The 32 people in the beta are not the people we need to impress, but they are those who have either been here for ever and are in tune to the status of the mod (and thus will play regardless) or they have shown some awesome dedication for the mod during the transition phase (our availability is fucked atm b/c a new system is going in, its causing alot of problems but these people are still playing)

In spite of this, I did give people a 2 week window to get into the beta with competitions. Dont worry, im sure it wont be too long of a beta test, and you can be sure that Ill keep everyone updated. It will give me time to get tutorials and promo material ready for everyone else so were not all bumbling through the first war by public release time.

Updated main post with %'s

Will do so daily.  With my run of bad-luck and time overruns, I extend a public apology - and a private one to Tank130 whom paid my 'reward' in advance and I failed to deliver.

There were complications - mainly to do with complexity in syncronising everything when multiple people issue orders - but they are mostly dealt with.
I am no working through and creating the orders, and showing feedback, then lastly geting the end of turn sorted.

That will start the beta - and all beta players will be expected to report errors and act IN THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME - due to the fact many exploits may be present.
If you find them, report them.

I still have no ETA, the best I can say is soon - however Ive been saying that for a fortnight =/

Updated.

Did work on unit orders - framework is complete, just need to add them all now, which is finicky, but not as big as the framework.
Once thats done, I'll do the grindless system and then the veterancy change.
