I wanted to make a quick post on the benefits of using a web-based system to purchase and buy units and abilities as well as using the web-based system to control doctrines and other features. This is one of the main benefits Europe In Ruins has over other modifications, other than the whole persistency and grand war thing (assuming you're into that).

Normally, when developing any modification, there are some limits to what's possible. In Company of Heroes, this is evident with both the number of races (sides), and the doctrine choices. However, we are able to overcome these limitations by using a web-based management system which provides the information to Company of Heroes. Europe In Ruins could theoretically have an unlimited number of races and doctrines (including doctrine abilities).

As you may know, each battle in Europe In Ruins will require the downloading of a file. This file, which is a packed SGA, will provide all the information for each player in the battle. This information can be anything from their available units, to their munition resources, to their doctrine abilities. As we send this information to Company of Heroes and parse it with SCAR, it opens up a wide array of possibilities, including those mentioned above.

With the recently released model explorer, it'd be possible to have both the Eastern and Pacific fronts and expand our war map beyond Western Europe. As we continue moving forward in our development process, there are an infinite number of possibilities.
