HI,

Ive downloaded this mod recently, and on first attempt to start the Launcher to join a game it tells me the program needs to download files. It says "Reading Response : 18054/2121590 bytes before it encounters Error Type 5 Code 10060. Now from what i understand this is a Firewall issue. I have since disabled all firewalls but to no Avail.

Having read the rest of the forums not only do i see more users also encountering this issue but other issues aswell (runtime Library seems to be a big one) So having said that is there a link on this site to download these files manually including the runtime file?

Also with the increasing numbers of vista users out there could a Vista Issue Topic be pinned at the top? probably solve a lot of needless questions Tongue

Thankyou.

p.s Ive had a lot of experience dealing with issues like this in the past but not with Vista, Any fixes I discover I shall be more than happy to log in full detail for you all.

p.p.s Attempted to Download battle manually acheived this

Have you tried giving the launcher administrative access?

Are you running the game at the same time as the launcher?

The site might just be borked atm tho, who knows.

(10060) Connection timed out.

Since you already established a connection and was downloading data I don't think this was a firewall problem. Probably a server error. The host isn't the most reliable.

As for that manual problem there, I see I made a typo there Smiley Going to fix that now. But mostly FL- broke it. It might be already fixed for all I know.

Oh and I need to figure out how to make the launcher require administrative access by default so you don't have to go through properties to run it.

Hey guys...
I have VISTA, and I couldnt finish getting some of the files after putting the .exe file in my Company of Heroes folder back in the 1.6 version of EIR. Now however, it finishes updating just fine, I made my profile in the EIR database, created my squads/platoons/legions and whatnot, and am trying to set up a game against a friend. It says All Files are Up to date, I input the battle ID at "46", click "donwload", a little box pops up saying "Download complete, Start EiR?", i click "yes", VISTA askes me if I want this program to continue, i click "yes", then an error pops up, saying "Error. Cannot allocate remote memory", and all i can click is "okay"...

Any suggestions?

Thanks for the ideas guys ! I found my problem however.

Vista requires the Visual Studio C++ update to play EiR however you need to install this BEFORE installing EiR. A quick reinstall fixed that bug. Additionaly i manually forced the EiR launcher into the firewall aswell.

As for the Cancel or Allow... Are you trying to play the program as administrator? Vista actually freezes completly for Uac permission to prevent virus's from file hopping. Check the programs settings to make sure nothing is set to Run as Administrator or disable User Access Control (not recommended)

Otherwise ive been playing The Germans with some success and loving it Tongue great mod guys

Weird that the install order would matter, it really should not. Maybe you just had an older version of EiR. No matter now, as long as it works.

The next version of the launcher will most likely require to be run as administrator on Vista if I can manage to make it UAC compatible. If I can figure out what that means exactly. I think saving any files to the CoH directory requires it.
