There icon shows a medic sign so are they a medic unit? Or a builder? Or some type of elite unit?

Its not a medic unit. Brn just decided he wanted to give it a unique icon and picked one of our unused icons.

They perfrom your basic chore of building obstacles and distracting HMG's

They also come in 5 man squads so you can finally get greedy as PE and grab battlefield equipment. Once you remove the current crew of course.

It's basically a Luftwaffe squad but with Pio mp40s instead of k98s. It has the ability to build the Scorched Earth unlocks but apparently none of them are currently working.

There were actually a couple of versions of the Panzer Pioneer, the current one is the more basic engineer type unit.
