My all time favourite is "Cross of Iron" gritty eastern front action , in colour & in English - & for a change from the German perspective.

"Where Eagles Dare" is also a must see. Then come the usual favourites of Saving Private Ryan & Band of Brothers etc..

Anyone here ever see 'The Eagle Has Landed"? It's got Robert Duval or however you spell it and the butler from the new batman movies. Great actor, but I can't for the life of me remember his name...

Anyway, it's based on a book about a group of German paratroopers who land in Britain disguised as Polish commandos in an attempt to assassinate Churchill. It's from the German PoV and has a good build-up to the ending action. It includes epic ranger fail which always makes me gleeful.

One of the few movies that portrays Germans as actual people and not just Nazis.

Well worth a watch.
