Uploaded my first AMV like thing, tell me what you guys think!

Also, does anyone know a good video edit program with effects like the fades, rapid screen switching, and font drops that appear in this video?  If anyone can recommend me one, I'd appreciate it, trying to get into video manipulation/editing and would like some advice on software.

Ok, a very cool idea, and as one who runs an AMV competition at an anime convention, I happen to be decently credible on all this.

First, you need to use a better video editor, such as Sony Vegas or Corell. I'm sure you could find a place to torrent them, or you could search a megaupload search engine for the links, or actually buy the software (lol).

Second, you're going to want to find that video without subs, because those detract quite a bit from the overall quality of the AMV. (Also want to find a better quality version, but that could be harder to do)

Third, you're going to want to keep the effects and timing snappy, instead of letting the video play, and thus come up with a really enrapturing video.

Fourth, that's a really cool looking video!!! Is that a new anime I've never heard of, or is it just a nicovideo someone made?

Overall, I fully approve of this project and I wish you the best of luck sir! If you have any more questions, totally go ahead and ask! =D

So you use Sony Vegas or Corell? Which do you recommend, as it seems you have more experience with those sort of things than I do.

Usually it's Anime Music Video. So, not just any music video using animation, but a music where the video part is made up of anime clips.
