A metric shit ton of MMOs are going (or are already) F2P in the near future (Champs Online, PotBS, D&DO,etc) and more F2P MMOs in the pipeline such as
http://www.minerwars.com/?aid=5203 or
http://vindictus.nexon.net/ as well as yet more rumors of other MMOs having a F2P future (STO seems to be heading this way, best rumor about this has it that if Champs Online has an F2P boom in sales STO will follow suit shortly) and also rumors of new F2P models surfacing (besides the old and well known premium shop/premium subscription system ) So... the question is... is 2012 the year that marks an F2P WoW? or God forbid...an F2P EVE-Online?
Unfortunatly alot of the FTP MMO's have shot themselves in the foot, and most of the ones that swithched have already failed. Like Champs Online, you may see a month boom but its on its way out.
GW2 is doing alot of wierd things that is outright mystifying, angering and alienating its original fans.
And Wow has millions of people paying 30 dollars a month just to access your servers, this number has generally increased over the years too. There is way too much money in wow for it to go f2p.
