Agreed, i used 2 squads, the carved thorugh axis infantry like absolutly nothing!. Ask Nevyen he got the brunt of it

They seemed a little strong -- but then again, Scotzmen was using them in groups of 3-4, they were eating through buffed falls using covering fire without losing any noticeable hp from a long range... time after time!

Mind you, I've never used more than 1 at once, since I despise all kinds of blobbing. I can imagine a blob of them cleaned up pretty fast.

fact that u dont use more than 1 on field,does not mean that others wont bloob em,and clean axis quite fast...I have no problems with them,just supress em and kill em,and people get stunned when theyr engies dont kill falls in cover
but other builds might have problems...

That's what I'm saying, I can see how they may have needed the nerf, since I can imagine a blob doing pretty nasty damage.

I've never had an issue with Assault Engineers, they seem to be just as easy to suppress as normal Engineers. As in, 5 volks firing their rifles at the same time will suppress them, and god forbid an MG42 get involved. Considering their cost, that is the same amount of munitions as an Assault Grenadier squad, their damage output seemed fine and I would entirely expect a blob of 4 of them to completely rape everything that is an infantry unit until they got suppressed.
In fact, people frequently do blob three or four of them against me, and my LMG42 grenadiers had a field day. Why shouldn't 380 munitions of low-survivability anti-infantry infantry hit hard?

In EiR, Engis were given the same suppression threshold as Rifles, meaning that Volks don't suppress them.

Oh.
Well, my LMG42s still suppressed them rather fast. I guess because they weren't using cover and trying to charge into me. Or in some cases, being dropped out of a halftrack into a blob that had no cover.

Gotta say that this has fairy tale overtones for me. In my games a assault engi squad walks up to a volk and demolishes it. Supression doesn't occur from a volk squad.

I never said I actually suppressed them with volks, just said that I thought they were as easy to suppress as vCoH Engineers, which are definitely suppressed by single volks squads with a bit of luck. I don't use volks squads for combat much, just have 2 of them for recrewing 4 weapons.

they need penetration nerf vs ht at last. Non doctrinal PE can counter they only with IST or panter (g34 helps too). Assault grens rush in ht is really useless - shotgun blowup ht in a few seconds.
