Rather than the pop starting at 25 and continuing up to 40, have it start at 25 and stay at 25 until 10 minutes in when positions starts to kick in and the losing side starts to lose population.
Or it could stay that way the whole time and it would be small unit tactics, call it special ops mode.

Shouldnt the "planned" 1v1 gamemode change sort this out? seems kinda similar.

didn't know there was a planned 1v1 mode. But this would be multiple company, even up to 4v4 . just think it would be fun, would be a higher emphasis on micro, less units on the field.
4v4s would be more fun because of the lower amount of units, players would specialize more on one section because goin too balanced might actually hurt you.
kinda like that one game, i forget the name where u have infantry, armor, air and its a mod wf rts.

sounds kinda bad.
you just spam one type of unit and the other player can't counter it because of too few pop.
and in eir you already have very few units on at the same time compared to vcoh.
plus you don't have to do all the other vcoh micro bs like capping sectors, reinforcing and base building.

Axis would be favoured because their units are more pop efficient. e.g. Grenadiers > Riflemen, superior support weapons etc
