Good original post, Salan.  I was wondering this myself the other day and I will admit that I too was talking about the web-based game.

I tend to agree with Draygon that since it is not a game we actively play like SINS or WIC, it isn't as much an issue.  I would say idlely chatting about it while waiting to get an EiR game would be like chatting about the baseball game you played yesterday.

I'll defer to FL's ruling on the issue, but until then I plan to operate under the guideline of allowing it as long as it doesn't disrupt the ability of players to play EiR (such as monopolizing channels or using the battle channels).

I just asked everyone to move the discussion channel and allow games to be found in the lobby last night.  They were clogging up the lobby for a while till then.

Asking them to move from the lobby is certainly acceptable.

Freedom of Speech has no application here.  This is a privately owned resource.

relicnews is overmoderated, nuff said.

I dont want EiR vent to become that, someone describing a disgusting video on wowomg.com should be banned if not a regular or warned. An example of someone who should be banned is emosarecunts who played loud music which happened today. Try to not treat everything as black and white

It may be a privately owned Vent scrapking but the mod is still public to download and the vent is fairly open. I agree with Fldash that leniency is a good thing and rules are only necessary if things are bad. The difference between discussing something like warez and something like paedophilia is that one is being asshole and one isn't. If your just talking about warez, your not annoying anyone, yelling, ect. Where as if your talking about something like that you might disgust people in vent. There's a big difference between argueing with someone in vent and just talking about something like warez.
