Yes they do. Pinned units don't shoot back.

Killing and suppression both force a unit off the map... Except HMGs have a limited arc of fire and you can outrun the .30 with minimal casualties without getting suppressed in most cases. It's much more effective to suppress a squad instantly, killing it somewhat slower.

No one is asking for the units to be changed to be the same. The concern is with the price comparison of the two.

part of the difference si the fact that mg damage and (supression?) go up with the more soldiers it is shooting at..so generally since allies ahve squads of 6 and axis squads of 4 the mg42 preforms better

I think it's pretty apparent that the 42 vastly outperforms the 30 cal at the primary HMG job, anti-blob work - even if it didn't have longer range.
Fireup and Supression Fire are both relevant because they keep the factions in balance in terms of anti blob capabilities - fireup keeps 42s from utterly dominating, SF means Axis have to fear fast supression.
AP rounds keeps the 30 cal a viable unit compared to the mg42, in my opinion they are pretty much mandatory purchases.

.30 cal has higher killing power at range, as well. Oh, and recrewing weapons isn't -nearly- as costly for Allies due to high squad sizes.

Not necessarily. Volks are cheaper than Rifles with 1 man less. I'd say it's about the same.

Are you saying it's not normal for axis to have a bunch of volks? Who the hell have you been playing with?

I think weapon recrewing balances out. Volks have slightly more hitpoints and PaKs get their camo back.
