I'm seriously not joking. My great grandfather was snuck out of Ireland onto a boat in the middle of the night and then shipped over to New York. He was in the IRA, perhaps not a General because I don't remember the story fully, but was a high ranking person in the IRA. Apparently there are like a bunch of fucking relatives over in Ireland who are rich as fuck. I've yet to go over, but my mom, uncle, grandmother, and my mothers uncles have been.

Shit: I don't know the first name but the last name is Hayes. Lemme ask for his first.

My family has ties to the IRA as well.  My relatives snuck out though, made it to Canada and then came across the border that way.
