Ok, I"m looking into investing in a joystick again after 10 years of not having one and having to play hybrid games (battlefield for one) with mny freakin mouse and keyboard  and as a lot of u know, flying with a gamepad sux major balls, so i'm wonderin if there's one that someone could recommend? I'll spend a lot of money if it's real quality but i'd rather keep it under $50 u know? Just a simple gamer joystick that's durable and easy to use.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

If you have an old Xbox (not 360) controller, you could splice it with an old USB cord and download the free Xbox Controller Drivers, to enalbe you to use the Xbox controller on any PC via USB port.  That's what I did with an old Xbox controller with a busted connector.  It's very easy to splice too since the Xbox controller is USB based.  Although I only use it for racing games, since the mouse/keyboard setup is superrior to a controller in FPS games.

The Xbox controller is very good because of the two analog sticks, plus the two analog trigger buttons.  Not only that, but the four colored buttons are analog, however, not as precise as the triggers.

He was asking for a joystick, not gamepad. He even stated how he hates gamepads. On which I concur, Tym, about hating gamepads, they suck. Only thing they are good for is racing games.

But anyway, just go out to a store or browse online. The cheap ones(around $30) work just fine. It just depends on what kind of layout you want. Just like I prefer the secondary trigger to be where my thumb is, but some people like it below the primary. Only you know the way you like it.

The Xbox controller has two joysticks on it, which work very well not only for racing, but also for flying games, e.g. Crimson Skies, Heroes of the Pacific, etc.; besides the fact that it can be made from spare parts (free).  Anyhow it was just a suggestion . . .  Sheesh!

I know sometimes it may seem like I'm an asshole, but I'm not. I don't mean to sound like it, but I do. Tongue

Btw, joystick is better for flying games. Beats gamepads anyday with flying colors. But I use my Xbox 360 controller to split-screen L4D on PC.
