Say your rank is 5 and your team mates rank is 1.
Your total rank as a team is 6.
You divide by the amount of players on your team and round up. 3
His rank falls below the average. Yours is above the average.
This results in the commander advantage. Now if both or all three(never seen, can't confirm) of your teammates fall below the average, you get a commander advantage of anywhere from +1 to +3pp depending on the number of team mates below the average.
