I don't get it.

I've seen less drama in a teenage sitcom then I do in this mod. I realize folks are passionate about things, but there is a line where things go to far and become personal and sometimes just downright obnoxious.

The level of elitism here amazes me. I know your thinking "But Jaz this is the Internets where anonymity is a license to be an asshole." And you know what? I do expect that to an extent, but this mod, along with just about every other mod, is as much about how good the mod is, as it is with how good the community is, you need both.

We have some great players, some not so great players and everything in between. Some people play for fun, some only play to win, and again there is everything in the middle.

No one wants to play a mod where new people are shunned, ridiculed and picked on incessantly. Sure being a n00b, you should expect lots of challenges; learning curve, familiarity with players, the way the game is played, strategies etc. The community isn't something I think you should have to overcome to enjoy the game, but something that helps you do just that. Again this doesn't happen to everyone, but is just an example of where the community makes a huge difference.

Now before I go on, I am not saying that everyone here is an a-hole, far from it, but there seems to be this ever evolving ultra competitiveness to the community that sometimes I feel misses the point that this is just a game that people play for their enjoyment and nothing more then that.

Anyways, I can't put my finger on it, but in general the community just seems to have a negative feeling to it, perhaps that is too harsh a term, but I don't know how to describe it. I'm guilty of being negative from time to time as well so don't think I'm just pointing fingers here. Perhaps it is just that folks are more likely to post and about things they do not like, vs things they do like, I don't know.

I really think this mod has great potential and I think that as a community we should work to make it better and not take things to a personal level when discussing the game. We all have enough issues in real life I'm sure, there is no reason to bring them or to create new ones here.

I'll do my best to contribute where I can.

I disagree. I only get the feeling of negativity on the forums. This can easily be attributed to the fact that the forums are where everybody lets their steam blow off and things they dislike about the mod. There is not much discussion value to be had in a topic about how good the mod is. ie:

Obviously a thread like this does nothing but add to the sensation of drama, but I'm sure you realize this yourself. Maybe you should relax and remember that it's just a game, and this is just the forum for this game. Most discussion here, formally worded or not is casual in nature of its overall importance. If something upsets you, you should take it up with the mods who are more than willing to deal with inpromtu behaviour.

Well... I like noobs in general... but I hate them when yhey join my team versus good team... and ignore my suggestions and advices.

Noobs should know that they are noobs and learn... not sit on same level of skill for eternity... and think that they are good... and could p0wn me in vCoH 

I remeber my 2nd game as wher with "mr. X" on my team... we played versus good team of alies and we were rushed by masses of elite vetted infantry. And my teammate called me "monkey" for not having lmg or hmg to stop them. After that I always have plenty of heavy anti-infantry.

So screaming and hating noobs could be usefull... at least in some cases.
