Tonight the launcher was misbehaving and no one could launch a game. So being bored I just wanted to play cuz I need the practice....
Excuse this if ya know this already but there's a way to play using the EIRR by just using the short cut to the EIRR CoH
Crimson agreed to test this out with me and I started EIRR from the shortcut, set up a game in the multiplayer lobby and Crimson was able to join. The best thing is we both had our EIRR battalions intact and were able to deploy them and play fer a bit.
Now the issue is that you don't get any xp or PPs for the game. But in the good news any units I lost were not gone when I fired up the launcher. they are still there. So in effect you get a practice version of EIRR where ya don't lose any units but ya don't gain vet.
Now here's how it worked for me..
I started the EIRR launcher and rebuilt my beat up battalion. Finalized it then clicked on the short cut with the argument: -mod europeinruins
It looks like this in the shortcut properties:
"C:\Program Files\THQ\Company of Heroes\RelicCOH.exe" -mod europeinruins
Coh Started up with the EIRR splash screen and I went into miultiplayer lobby set up a game and that was it.
Crimson and I messed around a bit and you could grab territory, deploy yer teams and the existing veterancy was still with the units. So my vet 2 6 lbdr was still vet2! I seems that everything worked as normal (including my atrocious playing skills!
) doctrines were there too.
Didnt get a chance to try off board stuff but i think that works too.
OK I hope that people can at least get some play time in when the launcher's buggy or mebbe just plain practice when it isn't
