I usually always run a balanced company, the only exception to that being my blitz company, which has about 8 vanilla volks in it, simply because I haven't bothered to get more than 4 resource advantages. I never get tired of playing with a balanced company. Those that do might not be using them correctly?

the formulation should be better something like

"Those that do want to abuse some balancing holes or buffing abilities"

Or some people may actually be into, you know, roleplay in their battalions and prefer to have a theme in their coy?

Others may prefer to be surprised by an enemy company build and trying to counter it is fun - it may be far more interesting to them. Had loads of fun first time I took on two's riflespam, for instance.

A third type of people just prefer to play EiRR, not Chess, is why they use a lot of one unit.

Roleplaying:

Thinking about a ww2 scenario Player X builds his company. He gets stomped by Player Y, who fields 75% of his ressorces in one unit type. Player X thinks from this point on this mod is bullshit regarding the roleplaying thingy.

Yes some seem to like it some seem to not like it, some seem to specialise in spam and abuse others not.

Some play chess, but not Warcraft3 with unit spam and uber units and some thought this is what a tactical persistent ww2 coh mod should not be about.

Play a game of 2v2 vCoH team auto.

Then compare to EiRR. Believe me when I tell you EiRR is way less spamy Wink.

And I don't mind fighting off a company that invests even 100 percent of it's resources in one unit type. By god, I'm sure every single vEiR player(well, a few exceptions) will attest to how much fun fighting (non-abused) full AB companies was.

Well since this has degraded into doom-prophets vs Mysthalin like so many others, let me offer a few qualifying statements to my thread.

Every good company needs a feature. What I mean by this is that every good company needs something that makes it stand out, not just to make it interesting but to make it compete. If your company is just generic then it has no weaknesses, but no strengths either and the key to victory is maximising your strengths and then working with your allies to cover your weaknesses. 3 people each doing one thing well is better than 3 people doing everything averagely. EIR is above all a team game and as such 3 companies with distinct strengths covering each other will end up besting 3 companies who play bog standard. Its not just EIR either, theory of specialisation is fucking proven. 'Spam' companies are simply taking this to the extreme and rightfully so.

This is why even if the game had perfect balance, there would still be 'spam' companies. They are simply more effective.

Hell, I love playing with Silverstone's company when I play my wehr account. It's chock full of volksgrenadiers, most of them with mines, and has almost no other infantry except a few gren squads. Is this a gimmick or spam company? I certainly don't think so, I think it's a themed company. Personally I tend to play more rounded companies, but with almost no light vehicles, because they just don't fit in with my way of allocating resources. As I've said before, my airborne company has a total of 4 airborne and 3 airborne riflemen, has no offmaps at all, and it does decently. Not everyone goes for nothing but their doctrine-buffed units under the current system, in fact you can find quite a lot of variety between companies, and this is a good thing in my opinion.

I`d say not just more effective, but also more  cost effective, who pays penalities for using it ?
