 Kwia/Heartmann/Mysthalin vs. Uknownz/WCM/Nuintan

This was an interesting game on Chateau that sparked a debate. The very-vehicle heavy PE trifecta contends that they only lost due to being outcapped, and that they were turning the tide when the victory timer ran out.

From my end, I believe that the game clearly showed from the 15 minute mark onwards that the PE were forced to fight almost directly from their spawn (at the redoubt well north of the chateau crossroads) and that there was no evidence of a "tide being turned". Up until that point I believe it was more or less either team's game, but that in these final 15 minutes the game was essentially over.

I also do not believe "being forced off the field" was the reason they lost, but rather that they had insufficient at remaining to counter the sheer weight of allied tanks still left on the field and had lost too much of their fighting force while also forfeiting the vast majority of the battlefield (and thus population).

The replay was requested by Baine so it has been posted here. From our perspective (the allies) we didn't particularily feel this game was that close and thus worthy of a replay, but since a very different interpretation came from the axis I can understand the interest.

I guess that would of gone around the lines of imobilising it with a teller mine then killing the main gun and making sure the victory timer ran out.

I personally thought we still had a chance to fight off the allied tanks - the best indications of this is unknown's pershing having to run just after seeing it's first glimpse of active combat(hotch stuka barrage took it to half health, then a few shots from our AT contingent. The other indication would be 3 T17s charging a marder and all dieing, failing to fullfill the objective.

I think our main mistake this game was the fact we fought head-on. PE have never been meant to fight this kind of battle : of frontlines and haed-on fighting. We should have constantly flanked, taking out some units on either flank and then retreating to plot our next offense. But alas, the game is over, this won't change the outcome.

Actually the pershing was on for quite a considerable amount of time before it pulled back to repair. And it was fully repaired before the timer ran out. Furthermore, in the last 60 seconds leading to the timer running out you guys had practically no AT on. Especally not compared to the horde of allied tanks on the field.

To be honest there was no turning the tide in that game. If the allies would not have push that hard until spawn points and being less careless with their units the outcome would be even more clear.
Nevertheless it was an entertaining game to watch.

Mysthalin your thinking would be ok if it was different situation , i knew it's gonna be over soon and i just went gung ho with the 3 t17 and i didn't care atm if i'm gonna get the marder or not.

I do realise that this game caused a huge stirr in the launcher chat mostly between Wind and Myst but I myself but some coal on that fire. It was as Wind says a intressting game, and I do hope to see many more. I also hope that because of this game there will be no grudges that last.

Do you mean when you had 80 popcap? That's most likely to do with us not being able to call anything in any further...

Either way, it was a fun game, I enjoyed it.

Nah I mean in the final minutes leading up to the timer running out (the timer being what counts down to victory, which gives you 80 pop when it reaches 0)

 But yes, good game.

I specifically remember 2 50mm ATHTs on at that last minute, with a marder dying something in that minute, and another called on to replace it(didn't make it before the victory timer ran out). That's not exactly "Hardly no AT", but if you disagree...

The replay disagrees with me that 2 ATHTs and a marder is not "hardly no AT?"

No, it disagrees with you that these units were even on the field at this time of the battle.  Tongue
