You know your country is in a sad state when a private company can fire a rocket into space but you can't.

SpaceX is owned by the guy who created PayPal, Elon Musk.

Dafuq man, don't ask for proof if you'll refuse it if it's not in your favor, logic fallacy for the bloody win.

I'd rather North Korea have long-range ballistics technology than any privately-owned corporation.

so, you'd rather a private company with no nukes have ballistic country have one over a country with nukes? in a highly volitile region that's still at war? (cease fire means still at war but just not actively engaging)

I trust North Korea more than a corporation, yes. North Korea, despite all the doom prophesying being bandied about, has no reason to ever use a nuke. In the future, the same. Cannot be said if a privately-owned conglomeration with no national ties acquires nuclear capabilities.

Am I missing something? Arn't these purposed for satellite launching purpose? And wouldn't it take some work to re-purpose it for engaging a entity?

I fail to see how this corporation could turn to be using its products for war. Although I do agree they should be monitored.

I wouldn't trust NK OR a corporation with ballistic missiles.

NK for one due mainly the fact that they can become an unstable country rather quickly, and obviously for thier shitty leaders.

Corporations due to them gaining too much power over the people, given that one of thier main goals is to make money. Although that doesn't mean corporations can't fight for a good cause.

Well, given that the US too now needs to rely on private enterprise for space exploration, I don't know who should laugh, N-Korea or the US?
Also, the company behind SpaceX has a lot more money than N.Korea, lol.
