A lot of people seem to be having connection issues in COH. The way COH works is that only the host needs to open his ports. However if you open your ports that will also allow you to connect to people who have their ports closed.
It’s important that you follow the guide step-by-step. Port forwarding is done to circumvent firewalls on your computer or router. It’s pointless to port forward if your firewalls are enabled with no exceptions. Then you have to port forward for every program with an online feature. Also note that features in Windows Firewall may still be enabled even if it says that it’s turned off like in the example pictures below.
1: Windows FirewallWindows Firewall exists on all computers with a Windows OS. It’s advised that you turn it off as it tends to be more inconvenience than help.
If you want to turn off Windows Firewall. Go to “Control Panel\Windows Firewall\Customize Settings” and select “turn off Windows Firewall” for both Private and Public networks. Note that this step does not turn off the firewall completely. You still need to disable every feature manually in the step below.
Go to Control Panel\Windows Firewall\Advanced Settings and click on “Windows Firewall Properties”. Go to the Domain, Public and Private tabs and set firewall state to off.

If for any reason you do not wish to disable the firewall. To allow a program to bypass the firewall go to “Control Panel\Windows Firewall\Allowed Programs” select the program and tick both Private and Public Domain.
2: Router FirewallSome routers may have an extra software firewall. Usually there is a separate tab in your router interface where you can turn it off or add exceptions.
3: Anti-Virus FirewallAnti-Virus software may have a firewall. Usually it’s visible and configurable. If turning off or adding exceptions to your Windows Firewall and your Router Firewall did not help your connection issues then try to turn off your Anti-Virus temporarily or disable the firewall. Alternatively if you don't want to turn anything off you could add an exception for the program in your Anti-Virus Firewall.
4: Port ForwardingFirst thing you need to do is find out what your computer’s internal IP address is. Press start. Search for CMD.exe and open it. Write “ipconfig”. Look for IPv4 address. It should be something like "192.168.1.10". The IPv4 is the IP address that you need to type in when selecting which ports to forward.
There are two methods to open ports on your router. The most common method is to go to your router interface. The method varies dependent what router you use. Go to

The second method is to use UPnP. Go to “Control Panel\ Network and Sharing Center” and click on “Multiple networks”. Under “Network infrastructure” right-click on your router and select “Properties”. Select “Settings” then press the “Add…” button and fill in the required fields. The name is not important but for convenience name it COH. Write in your computer IP address, select TCP or UDP and write the internal and external ports.
