As everyone knows, the armoured division of any faction comes with an anti-infantry tank. For the germans, it is the Ostwind [Or Werblewind, when that applies], a reasonably priced tank at 500 MP. 250 FU. The allies have a more expensive version, the Sherman Crocodile, priced at 375 MP, 50 MU, and 350 FU. Now, as far as I see it, I see it as unfair. I understand that axis players want a cheap anti-infantry tank to go with their panthers and tigers, but that doesn't mean one must jack up the price of a tank that is mostly unused anyways. I don't play as much as some people, I know (only 17 allied battles, and 11 axis battles), but I have only had one battle with a croc, and it was utterly useless. Flamethrowers have the habit of being sperattic (or however you say that). The damage done to enemy infantry is very unpredictable (especially considering the range).

Because I am now out of time, I will get straight to the point. The Crocodile is too expensive, especially when no one uses it anyways. The Ostwind is much better in comparison, even when disregarding the price difference.

Please, if it's not too much to ask, change it.

I use the croc all the time.  Axis players fear my croc start, when applied correctly.  It's a monster at clearing buildings and units in cover, whereas the ostwind is not.

Do not generalize your own experiences as that of all the allies; there are players enjoy and use the croc effectively Smiley

I see the croc used all the time.  Especially the infamous "croc start" that forced many axis players to put a pak in their initial platoon.  Back when I played an allied infantry company I used the croc in every company.

But as to which is better, I would say the croc is slightly better.  Primarily because it destroys units in buildings whereas the ostwind could sit there for 10 minutes and kill 1 guy in a building.

The Croc is much more effective than the Ostwind. The croc can burn which is a major advantage and the ostwind is less accurate. hands down Croc is better.

The reason we rarely see a Croc is because the Sherman is already very effective against infantry.  However, Panthers and StuG's are the polar opposite.  They are terrible, so we are more likely to see an Ostwind on the field.  In addition, Ostwinds absolutely wreck light armor.

Ostwinds are also made of paper.  Any sort of heavy weapon rips right through them.  Try playing with one and you will see why it is so cheap.

i think the ostwind is better overall due to the fact that it is decent against anything where as the croc is only good for infantry and motorcycles

Well a croco can dirve staight into a green cover schreck squad and not run over a single one of them and still burn themm all to dead before he dies.

Ostwind cant do that.

Try useing it more (especially with upgrade).

You got a point to say that it kills "randomly" but if a whole squad would immediatly burn then there is no point for the enemy to use infantry because they get killed in two seconds anyway....
So yeah that would be realistic probably but then no one would use infantry squads anymore.

But I do have to agree to both sides.
The "Crocodile" Sherman does have the flame advantage because don't forget they can burn any building to the ground pretty fast. But basically that's all it is for, if it meets enemy armor then it's toast. But you shouldn't forget that a "Crocodile" Sherman should be used as an infantry support weapon, so if you end up defending your Croc with infantry then that's just a mistake.

You shouldn't sacrifice your croc's either, but use them to support your infantry, and if the Axis set tanks on it just have AT-units set up a little backwards and try to lure the enemy tanks in.

But anyway, the part where I agree on with Stuart is that Croc's are actually tanks but overall they don't perform that well, they can't even damage other tanks and they are only good for supporting other units. Of course a Crocodile isn't supposed to kill an enemy tank that easily with a flamethrower as weapon, but if it'd hit the fuel area or the engines... yeah you get the point.
But the reason Relic didn't make that ingame is because it would be a little too effective so my opinion is that the Croc is just fine as it is - just use it as a support / backup weapon but don't attack with it or use it as a primary defense.
