Playing a full game seems like a rare experience as 4/5 end in someone (or everyone!) dropping due to lag.

We've got our ports opened, we've got our programs closed, and we've got our graphics set as low as they can go. What gives?

Regular Company of Heroes works fine for me. It never drops, and never disconnects. But EIR on the other hand has so many problems. Can something be done or is it a development thing?

Crono says its Relic. If it were, then why does vCoH work and EIR does not? Is it the way EIR is coded?

If I recall, EIR uses a lot of SCAR coding, which could potentially slow down low end systems. Stop playing on your sisters old Dell Laptop!

EIR uses a lot of SCAR coding... A LOT.  Lower end systems can potentially have issues, but I haven't had any reports from people about issues...

Yes, a new system for me is definitely on the wish-list. Until then I guess I'll stick with Wolfenstein 3d?  Cool

Oh, believe me, its as low as it can go.

If you played with the textures I play with, you'd think you were playing Nintendo 64.

I haven't experienced any lag yet, cept for when my internet was being weird. i mean i notice the normal lag at times but it's usually fine. my problem is setting up  a game and the battle stuff lags or whatever, that gets pretty annoying.

Yea, we'll need about 10x the donation rate we currently have to get a dedicated server.  Wink

You're right about 2v2's fldash, so far I've had near perfect performance on those. Maybe that's an incentive for me to sign up for the tournament, too.

I haven't done a complete cost analysis yet.  Ideally we would probably purchase our own server and have it co-located somewhere.  That'd probably be more cost effective in the long run.  However, I'd have to check the costs of co-location and compare to standard dedicated server rental.

I'd be interested to hear how much you would need to make everything more stable.... This mod attracts an older player base than most, I would think, if there was a figure we needed to hit with donations to keep the site from going down every half hour, that would definately motivate me to chuck in a few hundred

I'll be happy if he can do it Smiley The Launcher is only a quick hack because there is nothing better available.
