I like the idea but since we don't even have a warmap in place, things like that should be worried about later.
I'm sure the warmap will bring in a lot of new aspects to the modification and will make many more things possible outside the Company of Heroes context in the long run.

speaking of which. is that actually going to have any influence on resources and stuff or is just a sort of graphical display of territories gained/lost ?
