Why does the mortar need two men to crew it? That doesn't make sense. I don't remember if this is a EIR or COH feature, so if I'm ranting about something that the Dev's didn't do, promptly tell me so I can STFU, otherwise, I don't see the point in the last guy having a stroke at the time that his buddy dies.

Same thing for AT guns, Flaks, Nebelwerfers, and Howitzers (and any other weapons teams that I am forgetting). Why at least two?

Wouldn't it be a little better for the unit to retreat off-map when the unit gets to one? Perhaps a decreased cooldown/firing rate? I don't know, I would just like to know why...

Its a VCoH thing, whenever an AT gun or mortor get down to 1 the last man commits suicide.  This has been in the game since CoH released.

Id say its realistic because I dont think 1 man could fire a mortor by himself and 1 man could not fire an AT gun by himself, or move said AT gun by himself because it was probably too heavy for 1 person to move.

This has been fixed in EiR, so that 1 man mortar units will retreat instead.  However, the programming was reverted in a patch a while ago and won't be corrected again until 2.0 functionality is in.

Bring on 2.0! I wasn't around for that patch sadly.

I think 1 person can fire a mortar, though it may be troublesome. I think if 1 man can fine the MG then CoH should of made it the same for them all. Or at least force retreat or force pack up of mortars, and i guess AT guns and nebels could just be unable to fire. But it's so dumb that they just die, probably my biggest complaint with CoH period.

"Major Cain raced out to an anti-tank gun and began to drag it into position. A gunner saw him and ran over to assist, and the two men succeeded in disabling it."

A 75mm can be moved by one man. I'm pretty sure he could've fired it too.
