What do you folks consider to be the most important elements that can be in a map for EiR (specifically important to the gameplay of EiR and strategies formed using it)?

Detail and graphical items are obviously important, and are always considered, but I'd like some gameplay based feedback on what you guys think is important in a map for this mod.

OPEN maps.  There are tones of maps that feature painstakingly constructed choke points.  They get old fast, especially with the ability to get to a position and fortify it uncontested.  Try to make maps w/ lots of open space and pieces of valuable cover spaced throughout.  It is fun to have to leapfrog through exposed stretches to places of relatively heavy cover.  It also requires a lot more strategy for the defender and affords the attacker more opportunities to advance.  Open maps prevent stalemates; they are fun.
