Talking about L4D and other zombie stuff I wanted to put up a zombie thread, which I'm sure there have probably been several in the past, but this is a new one! Post any and all zombie related stuff in here.

I'll start off with books and movies, and I'll divide them up into zombies and crazies.

And I'll also clear up the difference between a zombie and crazy for those of you who are going "wtf is a crazy?" Zombies are people who are dead or have died and are now for whatever reason are animated and the only way to kill them is severe brain damage or decapitation, or something along those lines. A crazy is well, 28 Days Later. A human who just wants to kill, but can be killed by normal means, such as starvation.

Zombie Books

-Zombie Survival Guide by Max Brooks, if you haven't read it, go out and get it!
-World War Z by Max Brooks, expect a movie of this in 2010, but somewhat of a follow up to ZSG, very good read.
-Day by Day Armageddon by J.L. Bourne, a zombie novel written in a journal format, I haven't read it yet, but you can read the first 78 pages for free online. http://www.tacticalunderground.us/portal.htm I only saw positive reviews on amazon.

Crazy Books

Cell by Stephen King, This book is great, it starts off with a punch, and well if you like stephen king, you'll like this book. Quite different then what you would expect towards the end of the book. This is also being made into a movie as well.

Zombie Movies

I'm not going to post descriptions of movies that I assume everyone has seen. And I'm going to make a list of movies you should see, and a list of movies you will want to avoid.

-Movies to See-

-Night of the Living Dead, remake in the 90s
-Dawn of the Dead, remake in the 00's
-Day of the Dead, they just did a remake I believe
-Land of the Dead
-Return of the Living Dead
-Shaun of the Dead
-Zombi 2, one of the best zombie movies out there, if you like Romero's stuff, then this is a must see. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080057/
-Fido, this movie is so awesome! It's a movie about a boy and his dog...er zombie. It's the 1950s and zombies are like our pets. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457572/
-Resident Evil, now the only reason I put this movie here, is because the scenes of them in the sewers on the pipes is awesome. I always thought that was really intense, though the rest of the movie is pretty much a suck fest.
-Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things, a cult classic, that is bad, but good at the same time, http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0068370/
-Planet Terror, some people didn't like it, I thought it was pretty funny/awesome.
-Zombie Lake, WWII Wermacht zombies coming to attack a french town, why would you want to miss this? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081027/

-Movies to Avoid-

-Any Return of the Living Dead movies after the first, 2 and 3 are making fun of themselves, and 3 I believe was a zombie love story of sorts. 4 and 5... well lets leave it at that they were made for sci-fi
-Any of the Zombi movies after 2. That means Zombi 2-8. Lucio Fulci only directed Zombi 2, the rest were just horrible movies trying to make money
-The Other Resident Evil movies, and even the first one you may want to avoid.

Crazy Movies
-28 Days Later
-28 Weeks Later
-the Crazies, Romero movie from the 80s, it's currently being remade. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0069895/

Jeez, I didn't realize how many zombie movies I've seen, I'll have to add more to the list later.

Did you know Max Brooks is the son of Mel Brooks?

Pretty good list don't see really anything else to add.

Ech, Land of the dead sucked. I hated the fucking post-apocalyptic battle-bus. Really. It's the only of the Dead movie I hate. With a passion.

The 90's remake of night of the living dead is pure GENIUS. The others aren't as cool, but not bad either. Sure, they can be considered b-movies with unecessary gore for the msot part(great make up artists), but the message behind them can be inspiring.

Are you kidding me, the original Dawn of the Dead was such a perfect movie.

And to people who hated land of the dead, are you the same people who LIKE running zombies? I think if running zombies are possible then so should zombies slowly capable of learning. Both make sense in my book (I know it's all personal opinion) I would assume someone who was recently killed and was re-animated would be able to function normal before the rigor mortis set in. And learning zombies makes sense as well if you followed all the other romero movies. In NotLD they were mindless. In Dawn of the Dead you realize that they have some sort of instincts and are capable of remembering things, which is why they are at the mall in the first place. And why the one main character who got turned into a zombie remembered that the wall was fake. And in Day of the Dead you have Bub who remembers quite a bit, how to use a gun even. So the natural process of things the way the zombies behave makes sense.

And I don't see what was so wrong with the bus of doom. I mean in the Dawn of the Dead remake they put together in what seems like a short time that reinforced bus. So I don't see why with quite a bit of time a large group of people couldn't put together something of that magnitude.

Personally, I loved all the zombie games and movies. However, there were a few that I felt were....a bit shallow and....dissappointing. Sometimes you hit and sometimes you miss. But I think there were alot more hits than misses.
