it slows it down if you got a crappy computer...
all i'm saying is i'd rather developers spend more on making the game play well than on making it look good. If they can do both, good for them, but it seems like we get more games with pretty looking graphics than games that are really good game-play wise.

Agreed, Tym, but thats a consideration for the developer, not you. Unfortunately you (unless your in/go into that industry) nor I, can affect the market of games available, so we just have to pick and choose from what developers give us. The real question is not gameplay/performance-visuals, but performance-visuals/cost.
Edit: Actually thinking on it now, EiR is a perfect example of us taking dev's visuals and giving ourselves the good gameplay. Even still, you can't affect that unless you're a programmer of that calibre.

9800GTX tends to crash whenever Anti-alliasing is turned on.
Either you go for the 8800 GTS/GTX or for an ati 4870x2.
SLI is also overrated, you pay double(to get two cards) for a really doubtfull increase in performance(reports have been of CoH actually running WORSE with dual 88s than with a single one), so stick to a single video card.
2-3 GBs should be quite enough of RAM for you.
The CPU is good.
By the way, RAM does make a difference...

I lolled. Doubtful increase? Dude, it runs the first video card at 100%, and if you get a good mobo, the other one at about 80%.
Is it necessary? No. However, you can brag about running the highest on Crysis on DX10 with like 80 FPS.
Benchmarks please, I've really not heard of 2xSLI cards working at 80 percent better than a single one.

Indeed.... but I did hear of 4870s crossfires running above 80% vs a single card

It might be a miss-assumption, as in the 4870x2 outperforming the 4870 like that... though that is doubtfull

Wow this was more popular then I thought lol, even spawned off two seperate threads (holy fuck we are attacking now!)
The reason why I have the quad core is that the current computer I have is a quad core and I figured that it isn't much more expensive then a core 2 duo so I just went with it.

It isn't always 80%, but it is undeniably there, and rather large. Really, it comes down to if you have the money, it does make a large improvement. That's all there is to it.
